My Dad is grumpy about all of the systems I've had, but has always helped with box building or any other wiring issues. He's totally passive/aggressive about it. He has the same complaints about my electrical system and anything that changes the interior in a 'hard' way. I trust any of his mechanical input though, as he's a great auto and diesel mechanic. I wouldn't know half of what I do without having soaked it in from him.

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

Thanks for all the responses guys.

CleanSierra-No not so much worried about them overheating as them vibrating to much from being on my sub box. Check my build in my sig if you wanna see more.

he helps me with boxes and such and every once and a while will give it a listen

my mom on the other hand will not give it a listen and is terrified that my car is going to fall apart because of it. but she congratulates me when i win stuff

kind of a middle ground for me. i always get looks when i tell them im upgrading

My parents back in the day were pretty indifferent about it, could care less really.

Now that I am a father and have a 19yr old son and I put a small setup in his car and then my Daughter just got her license so I am going to put a small system in her car. I put a system in my wife's car back in March of this year.

My vehicle just broke the 50's

My wife's car is in the mid 40's

and both kid's will be in the mid 30's

Everyone is happy :)

does your mom shop regularly? does your dad buy tools all the time? everyone has there "guilty" pleasure. just tell them that its what you love regardless of what they think. It might not be a cheap hobby but its better than spending money on drugs and such.

I was showing my dad my new box I built today and he just looked at it and shook his head and told me I was gonna get a ticket.. Later today I walk in while he was telling my mom it was a waste of money.. So my question is if anyone elses dad like this? Or do I just have a uptight one?

Just explain to him that a successful installer/spl guru has to be an electrician, plumber, bodyman, welder, carpenter, painter, fibreglass expert, mechanic,.......etc need I go on?

I am a father of three and the many years of installing and doing spl builds have made most trades trivial at best and if you do well at all aspects of a car audio installation expert you easily move into one of those other professions very well. Your probably a step ahead being on a farm as farmers already do alot of those listed skills already.
