Hotdog
For someone like me that has never owned a gun what is the proper process of getting one? I have used a shot gun before when I went squirrel hunting many years ago. For you gun owners out there what are your recommendations after the purchase as far as training? skittlesRgood
you just go into the store and pick out a gun. they will have you fill out the paper work and then you come back after they do a background check and the waiting period is over. thats it. lifted_silverado
Handgun=21 years of age Rifle/shotgun=18 years of age. As far as training goes, theres a simple rule dont pull it out unless you plan on using it. Go to a range indoor/outdoor shoot at different size targets and different distances depending on you purpose ex. Self defense or hunting. Beware owning a gun can be addictive. I bought my first and couldnt stop. I've purchased 3 within the last 2 months Quote Everythings in the attic or garage since the truck was sold last year. Grey_Fox
Every state has their own laws + 100 Illinois requires you to get a I.D. card to buy firearms. Call the Illinois State Police Firearms Services Bureau about getting a FOID. http://www.isp.state...id/foidinfo.cfm http://www.isp.state...firearmsfaq.cfm Edited September 1, 2011 by Grey_Fox
Hotdog
That don't seem to be to hard of a process. I thought it would be more involved then that. What would be a good beginner gun to have? What would be a good beginner gun to have? i thought it would be harder too, and i live in california lol. for my first gun i went with a mosin nagant because it was cheap, only $70-100 for a regular one, and ammo is stupid cheap for surplus. .22s are fun because of how cheap ammo is alone lol. 863hurricane
It depends on what kind of budget you have. Do you want a pistol or rifle? Are you going for a tactical look?
CJ18
I would recommend finding a self defense class and learn when and how to use your weapon. Glock is a good reliable weapon to start with.
Team_DC-Derrick
honestly, go to a major gun store in your area, and if you are looking at hand guns, i recommend test feeling quite a few of them.. i personally want the feel of a hand gun to be a extension of my arm, and the S&W Sigma 40 did that for me, so im getting 2 for my concealed carry once i come back from my deployment Quote The DC Integra 3 18s to 6 15 build log Team_DC-Derrick's Youtube Team DC Audio where theres a will theres a wall.......
