Reilly
Should be fine Ray. I have a stinger thats so deformed you would be scared to be close to it. It sits at 13.1 after sitting for 6 months. It went rounds with a Napa battery charger putting out 17+ volts all day at AI a couple years ago when we did our 27 woofer test. Still works fine, lol. kickass audio
That looks like your battery itself is fine just the casing is overheating. Is this part of your battery near your engine or your radiator? I dont think your battery is ready to explode, just was overheated from the engine or any other nearby component that is really hot and caused the case to give way. Id see if you can possibly get a steel case for around the side and possibly part of the top to protect it from heat. Maybe if you really want to be overkill make a protective case and put some second skin or something on it to try and fend the heat from going through the metal onto the battery. Just if you do make a case make sure you have a good amount of room around your terminals to protect against a short. Nathan @ XSpower
The battery is fine. I can not tell from the picture how swollen it is, but the way the case is made on the 1400s they will have a little bulge right off the production line. The way the case is reinforced on the sides it kind of sticks out a little in the middle (about a 1/4"). It is always good to put a heat deflector around it if it is under the hood though. There is a company called DEI that makes a battery blanket product that helps to keep the heat away from the battery. If you are doing demos for long periods of time with the hood closed there is a tremendous amount of heat that builds up under the hood. What voltage are you charging at? AA98hoe
15 .8 to 16.1 daily. And yea I have that heat blanket on the othe side I went the cheap route this time and used the reflective wndow shade thing lol cut it to fit. 4 dollars verses 31. I'm goin to change it out asap just don't have the funds right now. So the battery is good? Just protect it from further heat? Its bulging a good 3/8 to 1/2 maybe on both end only Quote TEAM DC AUDIO VEHICLE:98 chevy tahoe 2wd 3-4 drop HEADUNIT:alpine 9886 PREAMP:arcaudio FRONT STAGE:4-6 1/2s selinium,DD component set and 4-selinium tweeters in each door KICKPANELS:jl audio 5 1/4 REAR DOORS: dd components 6 1/2s HIGHS AMPS:zapco 750.2 on front doors, zapco an another 750.2 on kicks and rear doors SUBS:4-ascendant audio 18s with 5 spiders in a custom box built by KINGSUV SUB AMP: 2-dc7.5s ALTERNATORS: 3-mechmans 1- 425comp, 1-smd spec350, 1-270 with adj voltage harness on custom dc bracket WIRE:10-runs 0g front to back BATTERIES:6-d1400s TL results:157.1 at 38hz and 156.8 at headrest score @37hz.
