WalledSonic Posted November 2, 2016 Report Posted November 2, 2016 All of the charging instructions here and on the website neglect mentioning alternator charge voltage. Are there negative repercussions for charging at 14.8V via alternator all the time? Read the above links^ I guess i'll be damaging my batteries then. I see a lot of folks on here in hot climates that i know are charging in the upper 14s. The word 'alternator' doesnt show up on the instructions, but XS charging equipment sure does. So i figured this thread would be a good place to clear that up. Btw Karkov, i found plenty of information on why the intellicharger is different than other chargers. Its pretty clear on the same link you sent. I guess we all have a topic we want clarified. Lilkiller909 Posted July 10, 2017 Report Posted July 10, 2017 (edited) Can i use a optima 1200 charger to charge my d3100? And if i can, at how many amps should i charge it? Edited July 10, 2017 by Lilkiller909 Quote
audiofanaticz Posted July 10, 2017 Report Posted July 10, 2017 Yes you can, I would use a low setting around 3-5 amps, you dont want to use any higher settings ever really when charging batteries, too much amperage can cook batteries. Quote
Mikecb7h22aBass Posted June 22, 2024 Report Posted June 22, 2024 I have 4 d3400 in the trunk. 3 1/0 tofc shca runs from 410a js alternator . The batteries are ran parallel. The first battery sees 12.6v resting then the next 3 are all at 11.52. I'm running 4 ppi 7000.1 2 strapped together and same with the other 2 pushing 4 skar vxf15d4 wired at 4 ohm. Those are all running off battery 4, battery 1 has my viair compressors , lighting ,and toggle panels. Batteries 2 and 3 have no load. Fused in-between all batteries, with grounds from frame on batteries 1 and 4...question is , why are all the batteries not the same voltage, I also see massive voltage drops if I turn the system up, like down to 10v. Can someone draw me out a wire diagram for what I'm running, please. Or are these batteries just done for? I hope not because if they are I might as well just toss 1600 in the John crapper and flushed it down the drain. Quote
