Mha
So I called a local audio shop and they wants to charge me 80-160 to install it(they said they had to see it to determin how much it would be). I looks like all I have to do is unbolt the old, remove the pos and neg and the harness and replace with the new one is this right? It also said to replace the the pos and neg to at least 2 gauge wire( im doing 0 gauge) but do I still conect the original oem wires and then run my 0 gauge wire byside? My truck has a doube battery tray one on each side( got a d3400 coimg in with in the next few day) to wire it up should I just run a second 0 gauge power and ground direct from the alt or should I hook it up to the first battery? Its a shorter run from alt to second battery then from 1st battery to second battery.
G-Rad
Run the 0guage wire withthe OEM wire. There may be some thing conncted to the OEM wire, and f you dont have it on your alt, then that could be bad news for your components. As for installing Yes, it's not too hard, but be sure you disconnect your ground from the battery first before doing anything. For the 2nd battery, do a run of 1/0 from the first battery positive terminal to the 2nd batter positive terminal. Be sure to fuse the wire at both ends, within 18 inches of the batteries. Ground 2nd battery to the frame. Your alternator will charge your batteries, too. newls1
OP, if you're swapping alts on a tahoe Either it be 01-12 or the older ones with the 5.7 in them, it is literally a 10min install. Remove belt, take out old alt, put new alt in (Make sure pulley is tight) replace belt.... Done. Now go and do it. Dangrebel
Any gm truck or suv is super easy when it comes to putting the alt on. I can do mine in like 10 min off and on. newls1
Thanks guys, its a gm you guys sound like pros I love this forum NOthing really "PRO" about it. Changing an alt or alts on a tahoe/suburban is easier then changing the oil. I guess I've done it many times, but I can say even the first time was easy as hell Quote I love my staffie So anti FACEBOOK it isn't even funny
