dr.poz
I talked to a guy at a local audio store, and he recommended a 12" JL WØv3 and a 360 watt JL amp bridged. He told me that this would give me the best SQ in his opinion, since I'm not really concerned with SPL. Is that true?
TeamHT
Decent, but your enclosure is much more important when reaching these goals. Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
MikeMartel
W0's are very bottom of the line JL series... I wouldnt recommend them
lifted_silverado
Best? No, there are MANY SQ oriented brands out there. It will sound good but as HT said your box will truely be the deciding factor Quote Everythings in the attic or garage since the truck was sold last year. Audio-Concepts
Enclosure is the main aspect, lower tuning is optimal! Most SQ setups have a tuning in the mid 20's. The peaky higher bass of the 40+ range, is something to steer away from. You can also run a small sealed enclosure and with the crossover of the amp tune it low or run and external crossover thats able to go down to 20 hz. But......the enclosure is the most important, 10 & 12's are best for tight response due to the smaller cone area, but a 15" in the right enclosure is possible to sound good too! LT.Smoke
8's work well for SQ.... It is all in the enclosure really as others have stated... You can have a top of the line woofer but if you place it in a cheap box then it will sound like shit... You can place a cheap sub in a really nice box and get great sound... If you are on a budget i would recommend looking at things like FI SSD or Sundown Sa series or possibly that new Skar stuff... dr.poz
Ok cool so I guess I need a kick ass box. Never built one before though. I'm guessing that would be way cheaper than buyin one? But if I were to buy one, what would u guys suggest...
pa-pa-platypus
build your own man..maybe have someone design you one WAY...WAY cheaper to build your own and when its done you can say "i built that" Quote This isn't teeball. Audio-Concepts
Dont buy, I repeat dont buy! Build your own, to your car, to the subs specs, there are a couple people here on the forum, that can design the best possible enclosure for your needs. Look up Ray and Ramdesigns, both guys are great people and will help with your enclosure needs, but I would look at a few differents subs. Check into Audioque, Sound Solutions Audio, AA/Fi, and Sundown. These companies make very solid equipment and can be SQ oriented. But as for JL W0, I would spend the money on a stronger more powerful setup.
