LED's vs. DD-1

Recommended Posts

I still won't ever own or use a DD-1 .. :good:

Edit : for maxi

Okay, so why in the hell would you feel like you need to say that, and here of all places? And what is the "gimmick"?

I'm sure that most people don't really care if you ever use one or not. It's your loss anyway.

Edit: Damn, Steve ninja'd me!

good. You are the LAST person i would want for a customer. Why are you here anyway? I am getting tired of your daily smart ass comments. I say you go find another forum to play in because your welcome is wearing out real fast. Not because you "want ever use a dd-1"....but because you are a dick.

So im a dick ...for stating the obvious ..Im not the only one that notices the gimmick ...

there is no "gimmick" and there now is no more Team Nemesis DJ.

go diss on me and my products somewhere else besides MY website.

Good day.

funny video

i will use my visual example for those who need it. 40hz clipped sine wave with harmonic distortion

untitled-78.jpg

the DD-1 will turn red whenever there is a frequency besides 40hz and 1000hz. this is because of harmonic distortion, which occurs from clipping

the dd-1 allows 1% thd (total harmonic distortion)

this is why it isnt an on/off red light, it varies in light as the power increases in higher order harmonics.

i used to have a friend that would wire 30+ LEDS to the speaker leads and toss them throughout the car...

best explanation i have seen in this thread think i will just ignore the other comments <_<

Just a quick couple of notes:

1. LEDs operate on DC

2. There is no such thing as "an LED made for AC" per the yahoo explanation

3. His LEDs light up with AC from his amp because an LED is a DIODE... a Light Emitting Diode. = L.E.D. When you pass AC through a diode you get DC. This DC is what lights his LEDs

4. The Distortion Detector (DD-1) doesn't care about DC voltage.

5. Clipping is not DC voltage. Clipping is a when an AC voltage sine wave runs out of room to get any bigger and gets flattened off or "clipped" off at the top and bottom of the waveform, hence the name "clipping"

6. The Distortion Detector (DD-1) doesn't try to measure "clipping"

Also, that little LED board in the video is made for 12V DC, likely having an appropriate reverse voltage blocking diode before the LEDs on the board as well some resistors for current limiting. Do not try to connect an LED by itself to your amplifier's outputs. Without a reverse voltage blocking diode and appropriate current limiting resistors or circuits you will destroy your LEDs.

That is correct, I just used those same style LEDs not long ago. They are the autozone special LED strips that sell for 15bucks and have 2 little 4 inch strips.

Also keep this thread clean guys! :drinks:
