What do you consider "LOW"?

Always see threads on people say, so and so's system got low. Or this new build should get low. But what is low in your guy's opinion?

To me low isn't till under 25hz.

Cuz there's such an abundance of good music under 25Hz

You just need to look a little harder.

No offense but that is NOT music or anything I'd listen to at all, not even to demo. I just can't stand C&S stuff, probably cuz I'm older and grew up on 80's stuff.

As for low I play down to 12Hz in the HT and that impresses me, in the car low shit doesn't do it for me for some reason...

Well, I'm not sure, but I don't think that has anything to do with how low you can play.

I believe it has to do with the subs fs, and the enclosure tuning.

I know before I couldn't touch anything below 35hz, but since I built the new box, she loves the lows!

It will even go down into the high 20's now without falling out.

This is really relative to the size of your subs and parameters of you system/vehicle. It would be unreasonable to expect 25hz with "authority" out of an 8" sub. And on the opposite end of the spectrum, I've heard people describe 2 15's as playing super low, but they struggled to play anything below 35hz.

I've also heard other box builders say how good the low frequency extension of their box was for a single 15". Saying it played down to 22hz. Upon getting a demo of said box, sure it would "play" 22hz, about -20db down from it's peak.

A lot of guys think their walls will play low with authority but who's authority? When I think of low, JBLCamry's build of his brother's Geo is what first comes to mind. 155.5@27hz...

But... I consider anything below 20hz low...

I look at it this way..

Real music, stuff you hear on the radio is generaly in the 40-50hz range. Some goes a bit lower, but for the most part that is the range.

So why would you need to tune any lower then that other then to play some C&S stuff.

For me low is 38 and lower.

I would like to disagree. My single 15 (about the same cone area of 2 10s) plays 25Hz as loud as it plays 45Hz. It may not move a shitload of air, but it still moves quite a bit of air for a single 15.
