__d_a_v_i_d__ Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 There's very few legit shops out there nowadays, I thought soundman was one of them, but after the B.S 1 or 2 sheets of deadner on a door. and 8g power wire they put on a 4g input JL audio jx amp you can see them putting 8g on the 4g fuse block inputs that lead to the amp... at 10 minutes into the vid... oh well... decent channel i unsubscribe to now lol. my comment davidesigns: "8g power and ground to 4g inputs on the jl audio jx amp ? LOL fuse-block was also 4g, and ya put 8g. come on.... (excuse shall be, 'mounted to front seat so wire isn't that long so 8g is sufficient') WOW... dont care if battery is 8 inches away! inputs are there for a reason." also saw BeAILsTaR13: "did he really run 2 8gauge wires, leading from the same 4g fuse block? why not just a single 4 gauge run to a distribution block in the back?" lol oh well.. thats why do-it yourselfers, well "most" of the work selfers. lol thumbs us to yall ! Bacy2k Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 yes, all shops cheat and do short cuts. idk what you're upset about. as far as deadener, i only saw them do it in the first ride. your upset about 1 or 2 sheets of deadener? he has ONE type r 8. even if he had 4 18's in there, maybe the customer didnt PAY for more than a layer or 2. so why would the shop put extra in? you get what you pay for. as far as the wire, yeah, they should have ran the proper size, but if it works, doesnt over heat, and doesnt cause any issues (because its such a short run) then why they use bigger, bulkier, more expensive wire? it saves them money and makes it easier to hide. idk, they seem to do clean work, but until you actually have them work on your car and you know the reasoning behind what you see, i wouldnt go flaming them. AmericanLegend Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 uh maybe the customer only paid for 4 ga
MrSkippyJ Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 I only had to put 2 sheets of deadener on each of my doors, so that part is possibly ok. Didn't watch the video so I don't know about the power wire. kingsuv Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 It is funny to see people bitch when someone cuts corners and in the same breath bitch about what a REAL shop charges to have it done right. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.

I don't see a problem with them using 8ga. on that amp, it's not like the current it's gonna be drawing exceeds that of the power wire being used to feed it. As for the deadener....most of us do 100% coverage, I know I did when I did my car, but not really sure why....Everybody else is doing it so it must be right! Anybody heard of Bing @ Simplicity in Sound? That man does some of the best installs I have ever seen, SQ setups, and he doesn't use 100% coverage when deadening. Don @ sound deadener showdown suggests only 25% coverage, says anything more than that is excessive and counterproductive. I understand why alot of you guys go balls to the wall when deadening, some of you couldn't get your car/truck/van to stop rattling if it was built out of deadener! But that little rinky dink system in that Corrola surely doesn't require excessive deadening. Even beyond all this, do you even know what the customers budget was? You have no idea why they used what they did so to come out and rip them like that is pretty reckless, IMO. Fuck-em if you do and fuck-em if you don't very true. and ill say it again. a single layer of deadener for a SINGLE ALPINE 8 is MORE THAN ENOUGH. ive got a single layer on my doors, 2 level 4 12's, and my doors are just fine. TeamHT Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 It is funny to see people bitch when someone cuts corners and in the same breath bitch about what a REAL shop charges to have it done right. Fuck-em if you do and fuck-em if you don't THIS. Those who can't do it always complain about those that can and how much they charge. Hats off to many of the DIY'ers out there. Not every shop cuts corners, not every shop is behind on the times, and not every shop is ignorant of underground brands. But every shop does have what we call "humans" and they will either do their research or they won't. I know it would be GREAT if shops were the standard for knowledge, but just like every officer isn't a professor on the law, you have to also do your own research. There is such a thing as consumer responsibility. Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
Team_DC-Derrick Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 pretty sure ray dont skimp out on anything, and his shop is successful, cheap shops will always cut corners, they have to to make money...
