Need help deciding what amp to get

Recommended Posts

I fried one of my sub amps, so im pulling them both out and going with a single 2channel amp. I need help deciding what to get. Im on a VERY tight budget, $100, maybe $150 absolute tops, and would like to get the most power output for my money as possible. For the near future im less concerned with quality and more about wattage. Im thinking of getting a Lanzar MXA284, its fused at 140amps, which is more than other amps at the price. Does anyone else have any suggestions for an amo with the same / more power for around the same price? (dont suggest amps over $150, cant afford it anytime soon).

Lanzar, is not a good amp. I would suggest saving your money to buy a very good amp where as you will never have to replace anytime soon down the road. Been on a budget, know what it's like...but in the long run, saving is a whole lot better.

New build coming soon.

Haha, people, i know im gona get a shit amp for whut im willing to spend. This is only temporary because i wont have the extra spending money for a good amp for another couple months. For now, my budget is $100-$150 tops, and i just want as many watts output as i can get for the price. In a couple months ill have the extra hundreds to spend on an amp i actaully want. For the time being, i dont care about shitty brands, sound quality, etc. just power output. The lanzar amp is fused the highest (that i can find) with two 70amp fuses. Dont tell me saving for a better amp would be better, i know this already :P ill have the money, im not worried about that, i just want something temporary until i get paid in a couple months.

If you use the smd code it will be under 150

Do you know anything about how much this actually outputs? And sorry if I hijack your thread for a quick second OP, but you wouldn't need an extra battery/alternator or anything for this amp would you? I'd be hooking it up to my 2 Kicker Comps @ 2 Ohms and wouldn't be pushing it to max, I'd keep it at lower volumes til I upgraded subs

I will never understand the logic of...I know its shit but its just for now. If money is honestly that tight, then that $150 would better serve your budget for a good amp.

I feel people only say this to feel better about crappy equipment, or they honestly can not wait to put their money for a better purchase.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

Why did your original sub amp fry in the first place? I wouldnt spend any money on any amp till I knew why the old amp fried in the first place...example: shitty electrical, shitty install, shitty tuning (gain way up) or all of the above. For the most part an amp that is properly installed and setup should not fry without reason.

But im with everyone else, dont buy shit now just to have some beat, save up and do it right the first time around. My $.02

Reason one of my amps fried: for starters they are really shitty legacy amps, but main reason is my little brother decided to "tune my system for me" while he was borrowing my car for the weekend. he set the gains all the way up, then messed with my head unit and changed my lp and hp filters, and when i got my car back sunday night he said the subs didnt sound right. thats when i posted my last topic because i couldnt figure out what was wrong, which i now know. ive never had a problem before this happened, and now i have everything in my head unit set back to the way i had it.

as for everyone ragging about saving money and talking about crappy systems and whatnot, while i do feel thats usually true, in this case im not trying to make myself feel better. i started with two kove audio 15"s, a dual amp, and 6 gauge wire. moved up to 4 gauge wire, then a legacy amp, then 1/0 wire with the big 3 also in 1/0, built a new box tuned for alpine r 15"s, picked up a second amp, switched out my subs with two alpine r's, and then i ran into my amp frying out. i was planning on waiting until my income tax return comes and getting a new amp and high output altinator, which i am still doing, but i just want some bass until then. the only reason im looking for as much output as i can get for a small budget, is because once i get my new amp. the one im buying now will be going into my little brothers car which has the same setup as my car but 12" alpine r's instead of 15"s, but he only has an 800watt walmart amp, so i wana give him my temporary amp.

hope that clears up the air a little
