You would give them your $500 and then in return get a credit card for $500. Once they see you making monthly payments on time, they would give you youre $500 back and then increase your limit to $1,000 or whatever and you'd have a normal credit card. inm Posted March 20, 2012 Report Share Posted March 20, 2012 I recommend trying one of those store specific cards, and pay it off IN FULL every month. This will DRASTICALLY raise your credit score. After a while, of building it, apply for a regular credit card that you can use anywhere, and repeat the process. You might get a $300-$500 credit limit. Keep paying it off in full each month, and after 6 months or so, apply for a raise on the limit, and keep repeating it until it's as high as you want it. I think I'll go to best buy or home depot tomorrow and get a store card. I work at a Best Buy and have been applying for over a year now and cant get the Store Card myself and I have above average credit. I have 1 capitol one card with high interest to get my started and also an Amazon Store card. The Best Buy one is pretty hard to get, even tho they say its super easy...
