Paint or Carpet

Which is the cheapest way do finish a box? Carpet, paint, or what other ideas do you have?

I like vinyl over carpet. If you are willing to get everything smooth, so paint will look good, that's a great option.

depends, are you gonna do a cheap job or if you are gonna do it right.

carpet would probobly be cheaper because its only glue and carpet.

as for paint you may need filler, youll need to sand the box, and youll need primer and paint

or if you do birch plywood you can stain it and use different finishes like gloss or satin

There's many things you can wrap with instead of carpet. I like leather and suede. I think paint looks shitty unless you have the right paint, spray gun, and experience.

Not looking for anything special and the job is going to be done right. I just want something other than the bare box and just looking for the cheapest route

i spray painted mine and it soaked that stuff up like nothin, so tomorrow ima just paint it with a brush or something. i heard that carpeting can lose dbs and painting can help gain Dbs to idk man go with whatever. i like to paint cuz you can do different colors and be creative

i do paint. 2 coats of primer then 2-3 coats of paint then 2 coats of clear. usualy come out nice and smooth. make sure you fill in your screw holes. i usually countersink them then use wood filler.

What about rubberized undercoating like u get at AutoZone? Would that be ok for him to use? Its pretty cheap!

i just spray painted mine. it came out good enough, not show room quality but not bad for just a $1.

I used some krylon DTM waterbase paint.rolled on with hotdog roller..comes out decent enough.better than carpet I think.
