SnowDrifter Posted October 18, 2013 Author Report Posted October 18, 2013 Yup it's the same one that had the ticking. How would I tap it out though? With the ferrite underneath I'm not going to get many threads carved in there. I don't even know what to do right now... ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
TheBetterMethod Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 looks like maybe the screws just backed out. Maybe you can just recone her and add loctite and glue to the screws. 2005 Subaru Outback Wagon Pioneer 9400BH Fi Q 15, SAZ1500dV3 The first build>>> http://www.stevemead...-outback-build/ 140.9 @ 36hz Sealed on dash! Kyblack76 Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 That's been pulling away for a while. You reTAP you'll have to go to a larger size fastener. That means drilling out the holes in the basket also. Could try a heli coil or insert. I still wouldn't trust it. Just me. Was me? I'd sell as is. Or pay psi to make right and still sell at a loss. Or, sell the good one, part out the second. Make something back, buy new subs, of your choice. Preferably fi or AA. Sorry Chris. TheBetterMethod Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 If you sell as is, someone will get it working right for nothing more than the price of a recone and some new screws. Heck, if you sold it I'd buy it, but shipping from the other side of the country would be a bear. I think you can fix it. No problem if you have access to a drill press. 2005 Subaru Outback Wagon Pioneer 9400BH Fi Q 15, SAZ1500dV3 The first build>>> http://www.stevemead...-outback-build/ 140.9 @ 36hz Sealed on dash! Karkov Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 I should add, if price for you is a factor than don't make any hasty decisions. Explore all options first with some more feedback on this issue IMO. 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. dangaranga Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 What i would do, coming from what i have learned from school is to drill those hole to the next size up, and then get yourself a set of these in the appropriate size and pitch http://www.amazon.com/Irwin-Tools-2620--Carbon-Steel-/dp/B003A2GXQK/ref=sr_1_1?s=power-hand-tools&ie=UTF8&qid=1382132981&sr=1-1 what this will do is make threads to the very bottom of the hole unlike a standard taper tap will do and you will end up with a stronger setup than originally due to the larger fasteners Brandon 2000 Furd Ranger supercab 4x4 System: welding wire throughout the truck USalts 390amp Hairpin Juicebox in stock location 8 Banks of maxwell supercaps 2 American Bass Vfl 1100.1 wired to .35 each 2 Fi Audio Sp4 18's ( the DD sc 9918's smoked) Pioneer radio with Soundstream PA mids Powered by a nice sized soundstream 2 channel It's pronounced (dain-ja rain-ja) 2001 2 door focus 1 DD9918 SC
