Lifeguard fired for..... saving someone who is drowning???

Recommended Posts

So you are just supposed to watch as someone drowns? What happens when the guy in that "ZONE" is already occupied than anybody in that area just dies until he is free again? They should have signs on the beach.

"Warning - Their is only one lifeguard in this Zone. If you are in need of aid and the lifeguard is busy, you will have to wait your turn."

That's like a cop going after someone he just seen murder someone, and he's not in his jurisdiction. So why was this guy fired for going out of his zone to save someone? The person that should have been fired is the person who had the guy drowning in there zone, and didn't notice.

that's so stupid. I think today we have too many fucking stupid rules.... like in the red cross.... in order to save a drowning person, you need to ask permission to save them. That's bullshit

They should of just warned him that they're not liable for him if he's outside of his zone, and let it slide since not only was no one hurt, but someone's life was saved.

*New vehicle and system coming soon.*

I didn't read the article that was linked, but I did read somewhere that 2 other lifeguards quit in protest. I also read that he was offered his job back, but he said no.

That's why you wait for them to go unconscious because that's implied consent.
