Is this the 8k ex? Yes, the 8k EX. I have been beating on them daily without a single hiccup so far. Are Taramps still temperamental to correct ohm load and correct range of voltage? Yes on ohm load, range of voltage has never been an issue in my case (unless you mean out of the manufacturer rated voltage range), the old version HD6500 I used to have would see 11.5v for 2-3 minutes straight at times and I would give demo after demo after demo. Never blew and never protected. As far as the new ones, I have no clue, these two full tilt dont see below 12.8v, most songs full tilt are 13.1-13.4v. edit: I think they have a series they are coming out with or have come out with that is brazilian technology, but overbuilt (korean-ish mentality) so it can be wired low and whatnot without popping.
