moh.vze.com Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 I've got all of my stuff (besides a good alt) ready but I have no clue how to secure the XP 3000 in the trunk spare tire well area. I need your guys help with this. I need pretty much the parts list of what I need to buy exactly and where (lag bolts, rods, etc). Here is the picture of the trunk spare tire area. I want the battery towards the rear end as far as possible. Help please? Socky Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Get two peices of althread and drill two holes, get a plate of metal and run the althread threw the floor, and through the plate where it clamps down the battery. Skullz Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Make an exact fit of 1/2" mdf and lay that down and set your battery where you would like it to be and once you like where it is then glue and screw some 1"x1" blocks around the battery so it can't slide around and with the false floor on top of it it won't move around or get shifted. EDIT: Should have mentioned that i mean you'll be covering the whole bottom portion of the tire well in mdf in case i wasn't clear in my description. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
moh.vze.com Posted September 5, 2012 Author Report Posted September 5, 2012 I don't even think I'm going to have a false floor. I'm just going to bolt down the box somewhere on the sides DC Audio - Singer Alternators - Knukonceptz - XS Power - Hybrid Audio - Rockford Fosgate - Second Skin Audio - SMD - Sundown Audio - Elemental Designs

Wicks Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 I don't even think I'm going to have a false floor. I'm just going to bolt down the box somewhere on the sides If you use a metal bracket make sure you have a method to insulate it from the battery posts. The XP3000 posts are not very high from the battery top and are not insulated well. I went through the same question. If the battery shifts for whatever reason, you really don't want a thick metal bracket shorting the posts. Kyblack76 Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 Be safe either way,....... if it was to roll, and make "contact" to your trunk.... bad times... i just did some some plastic,...Lexan actaully,,...and laid it down,.. bought a 4$ generic/universal tie down to hold it to it.... I used a piece that had enough width and length, that made it hard for the battery to ever turn over... just a thought..and could give you some inspiration.....(same install, in a spare tire well, with d3100) Edit- i laid some foam down to keep it hush..... was all....
