BassHead810
So now that the show was over I had some time to do some testing over the next few days. I shortened the port a bit to increase the tuning. New score Movin on up Did some more tests the next evening. Fully charged battery, colder, and I routered back of port. Getting very close to that 150 sealed on the dash!! Went to the regional dB drag 3x event in Mansfield Ohio and took 1st. Two weeks left until dB Drag World Finals in Indy. Still need to get louder. I wanted to try my other idea for a port. I work in a paper converting plant and we have lots of machines that make notebooks etc. The printer sleeves that put the lines on a notebook gets shipped in a 10" cardboard tube. I saw it and asked if I could have the tube. This tube still had a purpose as far as I was concerned. Here it is in my car on the way home (no I couldn't bass that day ) With a little resin and some woodworking I figured I could make an attempt at a 10" aeroport. First I coated the inside and outside with resin. I added 2 layers of cloth to the outside to give it more strength. Then I cut it off to the appropriate length and made a 3/4" ring to go around the outside. Apply more resin This will be the rear flare. Since the port is so big the flare will have to be against the edge of the box, hence the reason I cut it with a flat spot. Here I'm checking the size and fit of the pieces I will use for the rear flare. I also attached the front of the port to a new removable plate the same size as the old port front plate. Looks good, time for some glue. We didn't have time to sit around waiting for glue to dry. It was the last few days before world finals and we still had alot of work to do so here's what we came up with lol Bass Cake Recipe 1) Set oven to warm 2) Insert port flare 3) Set timer for 60 minutes 4) Check every 10-15 minutes and remove flare when glue becomes a golden brown. 5) Remove and enjoy your Loud Bass Routing the rear flare. We also shortened it for a better tuning. The rear flare is just a friction fit for now. Last step will be to resin it all together. Now its looking like a port! Time for a test run OHHHH SHITTTT look at that!!! BassHead810
I'm so pumped at this point! I never imagined I could do that with "SQ" subs. But I think there is still more to be gained. I need to resin this port and give it a finished look. I think I will eventually paint the tube but I wont have time before world finals. Getting ready to resin. Note the size comparison with a roll of Gorilla Zoe tape. I also wanted to be able to play 17hz if anybody wanted to hear it at finals. So I made yet another removable port plate, this one with 2 4" aeroports with a homemade coupler and front flare all in one. I got a 4" port plug from Grainger - thanks Alero King for giving me a heads up on those things. I'll show the configuration for that on down. Putting a final coat of resin on all the ports. Mmm glazed donuts... The ports after they're sanded smooth and polished. I Love it! Put the all-thread in for bracing. Got the port back in Even got the panels in Here's the other setup. I can plug the bottom port and put an extension in the top to play 17hz at 146dB. OR I could add a few inches of length and tune a little lower by inserting a flare from the aeroports Here's the setup for playing 17hz Back to the 10" port.. we gotta test it now that everything is all finished up and tidy. Note: The last time we tested and did 150.16 the volume wasn't even at full tilt. There's still at least a few hundred watts left to go. Here's the best number we saw before leaving for Indy This was with me sitting on the back window and Jarred sitting on the windshield. Sealed on the dash of course. Clamped at 1800 watts! 44hz My 150+ Trunk Build Log Current Setup2 DC XL15's Crossfire XS-8K AudioControl Epic-150Mechman 250 amp altXS D3100 under hood 2 XS D3100 in TrunkSecondSkin Sound Deadening - 120+ sq ft Damplifier Pro2012 North American Street Stock Runner-up - 150.9 on 1800 clamped watts 2013 dB Drag Street Trunk World Champion - 153.9 on 3200 clamped Watts 2013 MECA Trunk 1 World Champion - 152.8 Headrest 2013 MECA Park & Pound 2 World Champion - 130.6My youtube channel (click for Hairtricks) Team dbAddicts Team DC Audio dcsoundlab.com

BassHead810
Here's what I did at dB Drag finals in Indy with this setup. Street Stock Class - 150.9 at 45hz Good enough for 2nd place! Only car louder was a CRX, although 2nd through 4th were all within a few tenths. I guess all that testing was worth it I'm not 100% sure but I think its the loudest trunk in the world using JL Audio subs/amps. If someone knows of a louder score and proof please let me know. Barely fits in my car! Build log is now up to date.
