DubNDodge
What style of inline fuse holders is everyone using under their hood? Something like this: or something like this: I was curious to what people prefer/ believe is more safe. Also how much have you spent per fuse holder, $10, $15? It would seem to me that the second one would be better suited in an engine bay. Has anyone purchased either of these types and used Knu 1/0, has it fit for them or needed trimmed? This might be blangtly obvious to someone more experienced. I would rather just make the right purchase the first time. Edit: Just realized this is possibly a vs. thread. Hopefully not since its just a few dollars and the style of things, if it is sorry. Wicks
I just got a BlueSea ANL fuse holder (and fuses). http://bluesea.com/category/81/21/productline/129 Expensive, but its so much better than most of the others. I added some pics in my build log of how I used it. Your second pic would be great if you need a waterproof option but as long as you're careful when washing the car, you shouldn't have an issue. Wow that's a very nice high quality fuse holder. That was the main thing I was worried about, depending how dirty the engine bay is, I spray it down annually. I would be doing the big 3 so I'll have 2 fuse holders in the bay that I would have to cover up somehow when I wash it. My lesson's learned from looking at fuse blocks: -Make sure that you aren't able to short out the fuse block terminals on metal (grounded) surfaces under your hood! -Be careful on the cheap plastic covers. They tend to break easy and fall off....or not fit very well and not stay on. -If you're careful you can wash under your hood just fine. 12V is low enough that you shouldn't have any shorting issues. You can always cover the fuseblock up with something while washing to divert most of the water if you're worried. -Your electrical is just as important as your other audio equipment, invest now in something quality so you don't have to worry about it. The cheaper stuff will most likely give you issues in the future.
