i'm not 100% sure, but i think he used the rope in his enclosure cuz of all the curves. and the curves are what makes it so sturdy. with the bumper, it's not as curvy. the only good curves are on the corner, which dont need to be done if he's going to do the whole thing regularly anyway. at least that's what i THINK might be why.

and x2 on the lip thing. shouldnt be hard to add anytime tho i wouldnt think

he has also mentioned though the fiberglass isnt that strong without MASSIVE build up on a flat surface. he said to add some rope or something to it to make it stronger..
