HatersGonnaHate Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 The easiest way to do it is to drill the hole and run the wire. It's gonna be more hassle if you try to drill out the connector and run the wires through it. Just make sure you get a rubber grommet between the wire and the hole in the door. Yeah I would drill a new hole just for speaker wires from the door into the cabin and run techflex and heat shrink to make a protective shield for the wiring. After you run the techflex and heatshrink just use some silicone to seal around the hole so no water gets in. If do right you would basically have a grommet for just speaker wires. 2013 Dodge Charger Build Log 1996 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0Build Log 2005 Honda Civic LX Coupe Build Log SMD SUPER SELLER!!!!My Selling Feedback
Swordlordboy1234 Posted October 23, 2012 Author Report Posted October 23, 2012 Techflex needed? Thats the protective stuff ive seen on power wire under the hood to protect from heat right? So you think a foot of 16guage tech flex and some silicone to seal it up would be all i needed? I would think so, someone correct me if I am wrong but you use the techflex to protect the jacket of the wire and then heat shrink the parts that go into the door holes just for added protection with some silicone to seal her up and you should be fine. Don't see why that wouldn't work unless you can find another accordian rubber grommet boot which would be better because I don't think techflex is waterproof. The biggest thing is to waterproof the are to ensure you're not taking on water because of the new holes. 2013 Dodge Charger Build Log 1996 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0Build Log 2005 Honda Civic LX Coupe Build Log SMD SUPER SELLER!!!!My Selling Feedback
bird333 Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 I have this car. I ran my wires through the boot and drilled a hole in the bottom of the connector for the wires.
m.doza Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 I have this car. I ran my wires through the boot and drilled a hole in the bottom of the connector for the wires. hey on on that accord door plug there are a couple open spots on the bottom just heat up a screw driver and make hole. doin it this way wont distort plug shape and with boot reinstalled will look stock, hope this helps
Autruche Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 Locate the two stock speaker wires in the plug. Cut them out, remove the connector pins, and carefully drill those two pin slots out to accept the larger gauge wire. Or if you really want to, you can try to carefully remove the pins themselves, cut the stock wire off of them, and solder them to your new speaker wires and put them back in. That way you can still have it be easily removable. Need Test Tones/Sine Waves?
