DubNDodge
As of now I plan on running Crescendo PWX6.5 mids along with the FT1 tweets. My question is do you need to have a LPF on the mids? So far I have not found an amplifier, nor an external crossover that has a LPF that will go up to 4khz. the_garynator
shouldn't be needed, they should naturally roll off as they get close to the top of their frequency response. The only reason you'd want to cross them over on the high end is if you were running into issues with overlap with your tweeters. For SQ yes, will it wreck them if you don't, no. Chris Hammer
Some amps have a LPF and HPF that can be multiplied by 10...so say the adjustment is 40-350 for LPF you could push in the x10 and get a 400-3500LPF...Gimme a sec Ill post a link.Im not saying get this amp..i was actually thinking of using it for 2way active...but here is an example..blow up a pic of the side of the amp and you can see the buttons above the LPF and HPF adjustments.. http://www.nvx.com/jad8004.html MY BUILD *****http://tinyurl.com/gmcbuild***** Vehicles 2005 GMC Canyon CB1000r - Currently where any future funds are going. DubNDodge
So is my only choice spending $300+ on an amp that has a 4khz LPF? Edit: ninja'd ^ Ok '01 Dodge Stratass Sealed Trunk Build Log 2008 Honda Fit Sport Build Log On 10/3/2013 at 10:00 AM, ROLEXrifleman said: Anyone who says they knew everything they wanted out of life at 19 can go suck a bag of dicks cause they are lying to themselves or brought up in a cult. Edit: ninja'd ^ Ok They're on Ebay for 260-270...probably find em for less but I wasn't saying get that exact amp...I was saying to look for amps with a similar feature and it going to be hard to find a $100-200 amp with LPF and HPF and extended frequency ranges that puts out the power you need for those PWX mids and Tweets. EDIT FOUND it for 240$ on ebay. Never have had experience with them myself. Read around a little and people seemed to like them.. CEA2006 if that means anything. the_garynator
if you cross over your tweeters at 5k, it probably wouldn't be needed as the frequency response will probably drop off at the higher end of the 83hz-5600hz response of the 6.5s. but if you cross the tweeters over at anywhere lower than that, I'd seriously consider it. EDIT: you don't necissarily need to cross them over on the amp, you can do passive crossover. Bump4life
run active with a active corssover. You can always do passive but it wont sound as good and if you spend a little more yoiu get a huge return. i ran passive for a while and it will do the trick and soiund good. but active is so much easier to tune Buyer/Seller Feedback Thread: http://www.stevemead...5015-bump4life/ MB C220 153 Trunk Car Build Log: http://www.stevemead...d/#entry1840136 MB C280 Ipad Dash SQ Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/194484-bump4lifes-new-benz-tony-c-relay-kit-pictures-ce-electric-audison-front-stage-installed/ My SPL Log: http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 BMW M340 xDrive Stock, for now. kirill007
You don't need a LPF if you don't want to push full RMS to the mids,or if you don't want them to sound decent instead of crappy. If you're smart you use a LPF, it helps the mid to stay cooler because they don't have to play unnecessary tones and it wil sound better. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
