what are good bright bulbs besides HID?

Recommended Posts

I have the halo/projector headlights on my grand cherokee with HIDS: 55w 8000k hi/low beams from ddm tuning and i absolutely love them. I had to adjust the projectors quite a bit since they were aimed crazy high but other than that they are terrific. I've had hids in all my cars for over 3 years always bought from ddm tuning and have never had a problem whatsoever. Visibility is amazing and quality is spot on. HIDs are very well worth it in my opinion and you can get a set on ddm for like $60 or less i believe, they have mixed reviews from people but i have had zero problems with them and would recommend them to anyone

Philips DiamondVision 5000K. Period.

I run Philips DV 5000K (55W) 9006/HB4's for lows, DV 5000K (65W) 9005/HB3's for highs, & Philips CrystalVision 4000K (27W) 880's for fogs in my 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo SS, & would not run ANYTHING else, ever.

(I hate Sylvania, GE, & Wagner for automobile lighting ... just a personal opinion, ... just like I hate Fram air & oil filters, to go along with Autolite plugs.)

Needless to say, you cannot go wrong with Philips DiamondVision series ... available for plug-&-play for every application that I am aware of.

OP one last thing idr if i mentioned previously or not but make sure you get a relay harness for your hid's. You dont want to risk burning up your stock wiring for the headlights from pulling the high amount of current through the stock wires that are thin and cannot handle the current needed to warm up a HID bulb. My hid's draw 50 amps of current when warming up and once hot they draw 15-20 amps per bulb. The relays are super easy to hook up. Just put the positive wire to your batteries positive terminal and the ground of the relay to your batteries negative then plug in the relay to your stock harness connection and then the relay connects to your hid ballast and you are all set. Super easy and ensures your hid ballasts get delivered the full amount of power needed to operate correctly.

You bought them over 3 yrs ago, eh? You heard about the lawsuit..right? About how they only had 4 temperatures. The "6000k" and "8000k" bulbs were really 7000k. Thats probably why visibility wasnt absolute shit.

Whats the QC code of your bulbs? QC-49? :bad:

Google it.

I've used PIAA Intense White before and they were pretty damn good, lasted exactly 1 year. Switched to the Philips CrystalVision and they are still running fine, will probably go back to PIAA or maybe try the DiamondVision next. Sylvanias are notorious for burning out in 6months or less. My issue is my headlamp housing being so damn fogged over and what not that the light output isn't as good as it can be.
