ChevyBoy95 Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 they will take 2k. I emailed AQ a while back getting an email that a more realistic rms rating on the HDC3 copper is 1-2krms, and the alum is 2-3krms. They can take even more, but under specific circumstances. zydrix Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 yea but the hdc 3 is rated at 1000 watt yeah they are rated for that, but most higher end audio companies like AQ,DD,FI,Sundown,DC an so on, will underrate there subs. most higher end audio companies will take more then rated power, as long as it GOOD CLEAN POWER. if it clipped power that u send to that HDC3, im willing to bet 1500 watts would destroy that sub, but if its clean you can easily put 1500-2200 on that sub, especially if its the aluminum coil version. zydrix Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 but also, do you have the proper electrical to support a 3500 watt amp, or even a 2200 amp? because you dont want to go an destroy your amp(s). you will most likely need a few new batts, a HO alt, an the big 3 done to your car to support that, an 1 or 2 runs of 1/0 depending on the amp you go with My build 98 s10 2.2 3 american bass HD 15s with psi soft parts.
