Skar Audio?

Hey all. I have a question out of curiosity. I have seen a lot of bashing towards Skar Audio on other forms. I have not noticed it on this forum. I realize I don't post on here much but I just wanted some feedback. For the record, I am using two vvx 12's and I think they sound very good especially for the price. What gives?

Not too sure if this is truthful so please don't get mad at me for misinformation, but i think one of the main reasons people bash skar so bad is cause of stuff that happened in the past with bad customer service and a couple misunderstandings, but I'm not entirely sure. Maybe someone more knowledgable can comment on this one.

Not 100% sure on the bashing ... But what I do know is Kevin has givin me great prices along with a few other companies I represent with my car. His zvx 12's sound great... Can play 23hz in my car strong... And are cold even after 1 hour of full tilt on my 2500. My 2500 is cold after an hour of play at 1 ohm... Dropping to about 13.1. Normal temps 70-80 degrees.

And my VVX 12's before them on the. Same 2500 took it like a champ. They would never get smelly and only got mildly warm after 30 minutes of full tilt. But then again they were taking over double rms.

Lets just say I'm getting another 2500 ASAP to see how the ZVX's hold up... And then I might build a wall with a couple more ZVX's. personally I think they supply a great product. Listed prices on websites are a bit high in my opinion. But I normally just give Kevin a shout and that's handled too. I'm gonna stay skar unless something horrible happens for what ever reason. But I don't see it happening soon.

It isn't Skar itself, rather some 'bad' (I put it in ticks cause I think this is the main reason why and if I recall, he made it all right too) customer service done by the owner in the past when he wasn't the owner of Skar yet (I believe). It is exactly that though... Past. I can tell you he has been awesome as far as CS goes. Some people hold grudges even if they aren't the ones effected.

You can do a million things right, but it only takes one to ruin it all.

(It's also like the SMD thing. Just because of whose name is on it they feel the need to bash..rather or not there is or was a reason, doesn't even matter)

I second that million things right is killed by 1 thing wrong.

I won't run Skar, I keep my reasons to myself and never shoot it down as a suggestion since it is good equipment. They made a lot of people angry with their business practices as a fledgling company but aren't guilty of many of the more absurd things they've been accused of since.

I hear you there. Ignorance is bliss. I didn't know him when those things happened and he always treated me good and his equipment has always satisfied my wants in equipment. I hold the same feeling towards other companies (which shall remain unnamed) but because of raping pockets on prices. But that's just me. I prefer 95% quality and 50% price over 100% quality and 100% price. Diminishing returns people.

never once been screwed over by Kevin. ive gotten quite a few woofers from him and at very decent prices to boot. never had a problem with any of the equipment either.

there was one time i was sent a used vvx 8 that was supposed to be new but it wasnt Kevins fault at all. just a misunderstanding with shipping. one email out to Kevin and he paid ALL shipping costs and everything was taken care of professionally.

i think some people would go too far in a situation like that and expect a free woofer or some shit and if they dont get it they talk shit. which is probably why bad talk going around.

They have good product, I did not like however, When I asked kevin what size my box should be, while stating I am tuning to 28hz and wanting to have authority into the low 20's. He told me to build a 2.5cu ft for my IVX 15, which, I am severely unhappy with. I need to build a new box because i can barely even play down to 30hz with almost no authority.
