At the very least, if you can, use a DMM and measure the resistance through the cable. You can do this by putting one probe on one end of the cable and the other probe on the other end. Check the inside and outside conductors. Or you could take a piece if wire and short out both conductors on one end. Then use the DMM and measure across the inside and outside conductors. If you're much over an ohm or so then you may have damage there as well. You just want to measure the continuity through both conductors of the RCA cable.
