bkolfo4
Direct Current Resistance. It is just the resistance of the coil wire when DC is applied. It is the resistance seen if you were to connect a 9 volt battery to the coil. Music is Alternating Current, not DC. DC would cause the cone to move in one direction and settle in one position based on the voltage applied. AC is why the cone moves in and out (in very simple terms - the positive and negative alternate on the coil terminals). AC impedance changes with frequency, so the coil is given a nominal, or average impedance rating. SnowDrifter
Here's the thing.... You are asking if it will be safe - eg reliable, not risky, no chance of failure. Here's the thing.. Wiring at 1/3 ohm will never be safe. Can you get more power? Maybe. But at a higher risk of frying equipment. You need to decide of that's the risk you are willing to take. No one here can guarantee long term reliability running at .33 ohms. If you are willing to accept losing an amp wiring that low, then by all means. Go for it. If you aren't, wire to a higher ohm load and get a larger amp that will do the power you need at that load. ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Kian_NJ
I ran my SAZ-300d at .35 daily and it took it like a champ. After rise i was almost exactly 1 Ohm. The current draw was a about 450 AMPS @51Hz
will77530
the crazy thing about rise is that its not consistent unless its a burp lol
fecupe2001
people these days wiring amps so damn low, i honestly only do it for spl, for daily i don´t go lower than .5 ohms depending on the electrical, not the impedance rise! I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. bass juggernaut
So if I mesure box rise @ 25hz and 60hz and both give me a rise over .5 would I be safe to assume that my amp isn't seeing under .5 ??? Thanx for all the input guys I really appreciate it.
Kyblack76
Meausre it with a tone, then on music it will be different due to the dynamics. Are you strickly burping ??? AI James
have wired way down before on some great electrical, no issues whatsoever. great electrical consist of 6 runs of 4/0 8 batteries 4 DC power 280 amp alternators 1 mechman AVBM charging at 15.2 ohm loads we run at on a consistant basis (nominal) on music .17 .35 it also helps to have a good amp that if perhaps it goes into protect, that its able to come out of protect. bass juggernaut
SHIT!!!!! this sucks, so i need a bigger amp that dose 6000 rms @ 1 ohm or 2 18's that i can wire to .5 (anybody want a bunch of 10's) lol
