Favorite old school amps?

I was just browsing Ebay and started typing in some searches of some of the equipment I had back in the day and ended up looking at old school amps for about an hour Lol. So mine was a toss up I have owned a few/several of each and both have a special place, they are the Orion Hcca, and the PPI Art series. And for me the winner is the PPI Art series.....Just something about them takes me back in time. Maybe one day I will do a full PPI Art build.

So throw it out there and let me know what you guys were running/liked back in the day.

01 Chevy Silverado X-cab

2 Sundown Z18v4 walled on 2 Lanzar Opti 7k's strapped at 1/2ohm = each amp wired to 1/4ohm. Havent checked impedence rise so not sure what they are actually seeing. 6 group 31AGM's.

2-Eclipse 34230's each one running 2 Eminence 6.5" Beta 6A. These are beastly mids rated at 350w program power. I was skeptical but the eclipse amps are 370w x 2 and when there was 4 mids on 1 amp I could push it into thermal protect within a song so added the 2nd amp.

Eclipse 4212 running 4 CT sounds Meso tweeters. and 2 DLS ultimate tweeters up high to raise the soundstage.

96' Ford F350 4wd 4d long bed 7.3 diesel with 91k miles. Will be the sound quality rig if I can ever find the time.

RF 200x2. Looks like a BBQ grill and could probably cook on it for how hot it got :)

MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..."

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.

Hammerdown... 1%

Orion 225 HCCA. .5-ohm stable ... ran 10 speakers off that thing, including two 12" subs in my '82 El Camino, ... it would pound for days.

Second fav? Probably PPI's Art series.

Thirdly, Hefler's.

Back in 91,92 I really wanted an RF Power 1000

All ZED made Hifonics amps and Earthquake amps were pretty tough. I think ZED made the old CRUNCH amps 2.

Linear Power amps were the tops back in the day.

Old US amps were strong, along with MMATS got to give love to Florida made amps.

Yupper the old zapco amps that were ZED made were boss.

In 1994

2 Rockford-Fosgate Series 1 2300's, 1 on front stage and on the rear stage. Both sets were Polk Audio Comps

1 Punch 40, in a Single Rockford "15 tuned to 32hz in a 3.2 cu ported box.

Clarion Head with an early remote

An "AUDIO CONTROL", "EPICENTER"...... My favorite.

This was 1st NEW car, as I we just had our baby girl, we got a 1994 Ford Escort Wagon with 12miles on it. Then I got to play with it then she was taking of our Daughter.

I won some trophies with this one in La, and CA while active duty in the old school 100 watt class in IASCA

I have my 5th Punch 40 sitting on my kitchen table, she goes to the Kicker 10" for my front console, waiting for TX weather to agree

Still Rockford, is my Brand

Does this smell funny to you? Its your sister :roflmao:
