Could Using A Speakon Connector For My Subs Make Them Loose Power?

Recommended Posts

For my new box I'm building I want to use a speakon cable to go from my amp to my box to allow ease of connecting and disconnecting. I was going to use a standard 4 core speakon plug and connect the 1st and second set together to allow better current flow. Could there really be a significant difference between using a speakon and using bolts with terminals? The cable will only need to be less than a metre long.

Not at all, speakon connectors have very low resistance. Less than 2 mOhms.

i shook this one kids hand and it just folded in mine. long story short i fucked his girlfriendso.. yeah..

Good rule of thump is go by what fuse size is being used in these amps. The higher the more amperage it pulls, this is what I look at.

I'll stick a 300 amp fuse in a potato and sell it to you for $2k.

Not at all. I use them in all the installs I do, and we run 8,000+watts through them on our PA systems.

They are made for it, that's why they are used in most PA systems.

Get the heavy duty ones though, you they will last you for ever and won't fail if you would once forget to disconnect it.

They also fit in the terminal better after disconnecting it a lot.

Thanks guys, do you think I could run all 6000w RMS through a single set of terminals? The 1+ and 1-, and not use the second set.
