I believe it has to do with the polarized lenses in the glasses, and I'm pretty sure you have to remove the polarized screen from the monitor to make it look blank to a human eye. Don't know how to do it or if it's difficult, but I'm pretty sure it can be done for real. Yes It can be done, it is difficult to do but is possible. When I was building my DIY video projector, I was told that you can get more lumens from removing the polarizer from the actual LCD panel and then polarizing the triplet lens. I decided against it because I didn't want to damage my only LCD panel for the projector.
