Broke_Audio_Addict
Should have changed the t-stat before putting the coolant in. If the coolant is still low you might be able to do it without losing any though. SnowDrifter
Yes your whole system will rust and when that happens, it's game over. I've never seen it happen to a car that didn't have overheating problems for the rest of it's life Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

_paralyzed_
The thermostat doesn't look very hard to change. She was only gona put 2 gallons of 50/50 and the rest water. Is that bad? It says in the owner's manual (or google) how much coolant you G'ma's cooling system holds. Figure that out and get enough coolant to fill the system at a 50/50 mix. Buying 50/50 is convenient, but silly. You paid the manufacturer to water down your coolant. If you need 2 more gallons to fill the system just buy 1 gallon of pure antifreeze and add 1 gallon of water. Make your own 50/50 mix...

Jessica
When you get your new t-stat, boil some water and drop it in. make sure it opens. Don't forget after you fill the system, run then engine till the thermostat opens cause its gonna have air in the system and its not actually full yet. After the t-stat opens you will be able to add more coolant. edit: spelling Edited August 28, 2015 by strangeduck Quote Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside.
