recommended complete gaming computer??

Recommended Posts

Im wanting to get into pc gaming more so u dont hafta worry so much about counsols anymore with better performance. My laptop dnt like games like diablo 3 for very long (gets quite warm). I don't really have time/patience to build my own from scratch just yet, the budget is about $1500 (can probably do 2k without any real problems) (I already have a mouse and keyboard and ill use my tv for a monitor for a while). Id like to be able to handle battlefield 4 when it comes out. Any suggestions?? Links help.

Thanks in advance,

Alex

I agree, few years back my buddy bought a alienware computer for 2k,I could have built it for 1.2k. And in all honesty, building a computer isn't hard at all. If your still really uncomfortable about doing it, you can find online really cheap books on how to build a pc. If that is still to much, ask a friend to build it for you. It would still be easy cheaper than going to a company to build it. And a lot of companies install bloatware that you don't need. It's like with geek squad, the amount they charge to do things are outrageous. When most of what they use to fix a computer is avaliable to us but most don't realize it, or just don't know how to really use it.

Yea its pretty easy to just build it. If you wanna overclock etc that's where it gets hairy. A little. But to just buy and keep at stock values, honestly its about as hard as legos. Things snap right in. A screw here and there and your done.

With that kinda $ you def go Intel. I'd prolly buy the following:

An SSD hdd for os only. $150

A pair of decent size hdds for storage in raid 0 $200

A decent case with good cooling $100

Decent >500w PSU $100

8gb ram $150 maybe 200 if you want better specs

Decent mobo $200

Operating system optical drive 100

That puts you roughly at 1k likely less I just like to high ball it.

Spend the remaining w.e you want on two things.

CPU get the best you can afford. Corei 5 at least. If not i7

Gpu same thing.

It will all just pop in and then fire it up. If you have extra $ buy a decent aftermarket cooler for you CPU prices are usually well under 100 unless you need a fancy one.

Even if your a first timer it'll take you a few hours max.

If you do have it built use this as a rough guide line.

All in all I'm just ball parkin here but I should be close enough.

Setup:

2010 Hyundai Elantra

Factory Unit via 4 chan NVX LOC

Excessive Amperage "H/O" Alt

Xs D3400/ Xs XP3000

Big 3. 2 Runs of +, 2 Runs of -

DD M3b and 2 12" AQ HDC4s

Ok lol I guess I can try to build my own, is anything sensitive enough that if I let it sit (say something came up before I could get to it then had to leave for a while) that itd ruin it? I just wanna know for sure before I go buying stuff then ruin stuff and halfta replace it before I can use it :P

No nothing will go bad if you let it sit. Just keep it in the box it comes in and dont play with the components on carpet and youll be fine.

Here is a video that'll help you see how easy it is to build a computer.

Now if your seriously wanting to spend 1500-2000 on parts you can get a good bit, compared to what you have selected.

Your main thing is deciding on AMD or Intel for your processor, I love AMD myself.

Same for video cards, AMD or Nvidia, and Nvidia is definitely the better option.

So if my budget was in the $1500-2000 range, this is what I would buy

Motherboard: Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ 990FX It will do SLI and Crossfire $240

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131876

Processor: AMD FX-8350 4.0Ghz (4.2Ghz Turbo) can easily overclock to 4.8Ghz and be stable on air cooling. $201

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284

Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB $340 (memory is dirt cheap right now, might as well max it out since your budget allows it)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233345

SSD: Corsair Neutron Series 256GB (mostly for windows) $200

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233403

HDD: Western Digital Green 2 TB, (for storage) $110

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136772

Power Supply: Corsair 760watt SLI/Crossfire ready 80+ Platinum certified $190

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139043

Case: Corsair 600T (also comes in white for $20 more) $140 after $20 mail in rebate

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139017

CD Rom: Asus Blue Ray/ DVD/ CD burner $62 after $20 mail in rebate

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135252

Last but least, video cards... So many options to go with this one, since prices constantly changing.

EVGA 680 GTX 4GB GDDR5 memory $500 after $20 mail in rebate

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130799

Now of coarse many tests have been done, and shown that two GTX 660TI cards in SLI outpeform a single GTX 680, However Id buy a 680, with goals to buy a 2nd for sli as soon as money is available.

Also the new Nvidia 780 cards are out, which are slightly faster, but imo the price to performance ratio for those cards is not that great when many tests show that the 680 series is not that far behind the new new cards. Also with the new cards being released, you can buy 2 680gtx cards for the price of one 780gtx cards damn near, and 2 680s again will out perform one 780.

The total for parts of a kick ass gaming rig is $1,983, that is with Shipping on some of the items, and rebate prices deducted.

And Id be willing to put this machine together for free because it be that cool. :D

Edit, I didnt put a OS system on the list because I already have several copies of Win7 64bit and Win7 64bit professional. Win8 simply dont belong on a gaming pc, or any pc that does not have a touch screen monitor.

Double Edit, All brands chosen to build this pc are the top named brands, Corsair, Asus, Evga, Western Digital. Not any cheaper type brands like pny, ecs, msi, etc which I personally feel are lesser quality gear.
