Tahoe 2013/2014/2015 RF, FI, XS, SQ, TM, etc...

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about doing one of those under the hood but needed them to run diagonal...but wanted some because they look sooo sick!!

Nice grab bro!

Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. The people who criticize or try and one up you....have a p.o.s to no system at all and will tell you all about this "other" guys system! Saddley I'm sure if I meet this "other" guy...he will probably tell me he thinks your just as annoying as I think you are!

I'm not compensating, just proud of fabricating!

Thanks guys! Means a lot coming from you guys

Also, was catching hell for so many super tweets so i changed it up some, might just spread them out better or something, plus I want to see the RF amps LEDs, plus this will help keep the Rockfords cool when wanging on the equipment.

Anyways, minor changes but still different.....

SMD VM-1 soldered up and ready to be mounted... for right now it will be hooked by the amplifiers for what the amps are seeing for volts

and in to watch all the pretty LEDs at once. meh, build looks kind of simple looking still, hmm.....

Dude.....Love it! Great organization of all that gear! It's definitely comming together nicely! Gotta show off the dancing lights :)

edit...was thinking it may even benefit to angle the lower shelf to match the top...would show off the ctsounds amps all lit up and might give you better access to run wires....idk...looks titties as it is but just throwin out ideas...Love the amps btw ;)

Would love to do that except I am waiting on some buss bars that are 1.25" x 1.25" I need to fit in there and then hook up and then run wires to which all get screwed from the top so for access I really can't angle it much at all. Trust me I have pondered a few different ideas but this seems to work the best I think. Trying to keep things below the window line and can't put anything behind the box (port) and there is no room on the sides. Need to keep back seat for family, etc. etc. really don't have much room in here for large stereo. There's almost no room under the seats on this model Tahoe either. I maybe could put batteries under it but with the snowy winters I'd really like to not do that unless I seal it up good. Unless you're gonna wall these there isn't as much room as it would seem. Trying to keep things stockish looking, with the seat back it pretty much is...oh well

So I ended up putting the D3400 under hood instead of the D3100. The D3100 fit, but does not have those tab things to bolt it down like the D3400 does so I opted to have the D3400 under there so it could be bolted down.

Finally got my rear battery bank on alt power instead of a charger/maintainer but I have a 0.1+ voltage drop from under hood to rear batteries. Maybe as much as 1.5 volts actually, kind of pisses me off though. All batteries were charged prior to hook up. I currently am only using 2 runs of OFC 1/0 for positive runs from front to back, should be good enough for now. I do have a 300 amp fuse on each run both in front by the under hood battery and in back by the battery bank, so 2 fuses per run.

What else can I do to eliminate voltage drop from front to back?? Add another run of positive??

Even though it's a Tahoe the runs really truly aren't all that long. I would say some where around 16' each, for sure under 20 (each). Everything is equal length also.

Forgive me for not looking through all 24 pages, but as far as your electrical drop goes, it's almost definitely ground and not positive runs. You have a lot of grounds, but they are all to the same spot on the frame.

I would definitely add a front to rear ground run before you add a positive run. You have more than enough capacity for positive. Probably get a couple other opinions, but I have seen this exact issue before, and the front to rear ground run fixed it.

I like the amp/everything else rack/display as well. It's lookin really good, but you're right, there's just something missing. Maybe it's because it's bare wood that it looks weird.

"Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand.
