Single 12 in the trunk sealed... My vote goes for a fully loaded Q or Bl

he wouldnt be the first to say they did a 167 with a system like that (one that clearly DOESNT), but i have to say, he didnt beat me anywhere, ive never competed against the guy. If he thinks his does a 167, mine would probably put him in a coma. :hairtrick:

I was going to say the 12 for better sound but who wants to see another 12 in a trunk  haha

I would do both but that's me. lol Get an 8" peerless sls...http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=264-1102

They can play down to 40hz. Couple that with some cabin gain and you are in business. They run great infinite baffle; perfect for a door. If you added no time alignment to these in the door you could run a rca splitter from the back of the HU. One goes to the 12" subwoofer and the other to the peerless midbass. Once you have a good setup that has real midbass you'll wonder how you ever listened to music without it. If you say you will be doing a spl setup later it is an even better idea. You will need a driver to compete with all that ~60hz below output.

You do have to put in work to make it work in a door but not impossible. I am putting a 12" in mine. My door skin has two layers of mlv on it and the bottom is lined with some 1" foam with a decoupling layer built into it. The back of the door panel has four layers of chop matte and cloth and was covered with some carpet to prevent any squeaks and buzzes. The pod I am doing is 4 layers of resin and matte with a layer of dynaglass for rigidity. Around the baffle on the inside of the pod I am going to put a few lbs of non hardening modeling clay and between the door card and the pod for the 12" I am going to use strips of neoprene and butyl rope; another decoupling layer. It is alot of effort but the results will speak for themselves.

I would buy some cheap oakley sunglasses and a some christian louboutin shoes and an inexpensive prada bag. Then put the 8's in the bag and wear the shoes and glasses out on the town while hooking up with hot russian girls.

But seriously, don't do the 8's, remember how hard it was last time to get door panels when you changed your mind?
