4 way setup

Recommended Posts

wasn't sure where to post this but since it is mainly about setting up my x-over points and running a 4 way active setup i figured here would be a good spot.

equipment; 80prs, punch pro tweets, punch pro 6.5, t400.4, t1500.1, 2 t2d415. then to add to it 2 p3 8" shallows (shallow mounting depth for my doors) with a p300.2.

Ok so here is the plan, after talking with a Rockford i have figured out that none of the filter, gain boost or anything on the t1500.1bdcp has control over anything on for the pass through on the amp. this makes it capable of running a 4 way setup with the 80prs.

highs will be set at 4khz plus

mids set at 240hz-3.15khz

lows at 200hz down

(rough guesses on all the x-over points, tuning and adjustments would have to be made to optimize it of course)

from there i will run rca's from the t1500.1bdcp to a 1 or p300.2. all have this amp set at 60-70hz so the 8's will play 60-200hz.

then the t1500.1bdcp will be set at about 60hz so that it plays from 60hz down.

this would give a 4way active setup using just the 80 prs and built in x-overs on the amps. unless I'm missing something. i could still set the 8s up in stereo and time align them. the t1500.1bdcp is a mono amp so the time alignment shouldn't affect them if I'm not mistaken.

t1500bdcp

2 t2d4 15"

1 t600.4

1 t400.2

1 set p1 tweets

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

Why are your tweeters crossed over so high ??

Did I read this correctly, Your midbass drivers will be on a mono channel amplifier ??

I would defiantly find a way to get your mid bass stereo.... That's just like having mono tweets. Or mono mids.... It will end up sounding like poop

Good rule of thump is go by what fuse size is being used in these amps. The higher the more amperage it pulls, this is what I look at.

I'll stick a 300 amp fuse in a potato and sell it to you for $2k.

I believe that the p300.2 is a two channel amp and not a mono. However, I do agree that the xover for the tweets is a little high. If it were me I would set them around 3.5khz and maybe even down to 2.5khz depending on the fs of the tweet.

I'll try setting them down. Saw it suggested to run the tweets at a higher cover point when using super.tweets.

PA speakers are usually crossed over higher than dome tweeters, 4k seems a little lower than average for pro audio. I'd say try a few different frequencies and see what sounds best to you.

Like I said it honestly depends on the fs of the tweeter. I just noticed that if you set the tweets at 4khz and the mids at 3.15khz regardless of the roll off there are going to be some frequencies in between that are not going to be heard. If you can't end up going any lower on the tweets then try setting the mids a touch higher so all of the frequencies are covered. Nick from Stereo Integrity setup the front stage in my ZX3 and had the tweets set to 2.2khz and the mids overlapping to 3khz.

The punch pro tweets have a built in x over don't remember what at though.the tweets and mids are x offered at 3.15hz now. Sounds a lot better IMO.

Thinking off adding a set of t2 tweets in the pillars to. i'm gonna go with the 8s in the doors for more mids so why not add a little but of highs. I can wire them in with the pro tweets on the 400.4 set the x over them around 2.5khz and let the built in x over on the pro.tweet do it's job
