LC-1 for gain/volume control

I know I have said it in the past and heard others here say it. "A gain knob is not a volume control". LC-1 is volume/gain control, are we all being hypocrites?

not really. its not a volume knob. but it is more of a pre out voltage control knob??? lol

the best way that it was explained to me was, it cuts the bass off all the way down and all the wait up it plays as loud as you set the gains, which as trey_dog said, it controls it by the preout

So lets say you know where max gain is on the amp and you use that knob to turn the bass amp down. Same thing?? The LC-1 creates a level of convenience to do the same thing. Still using gain for volume control

All an LC-1 is is a 50k ohm, dual gang potentiometer that adds resistance to the pre-out circuit between the source and the amp in order to lower the pre-out voltage that the amp sees.

Well if you more than one amp in your system (Sub, mids, etc), which most here do then it would be a gain control cause it would only control part of your system. If it was a volume control then it would lower All aspects of the system with a turn of the knob and not just one part. On your head unit you have a volume knob cause it changes the total system at the same time.

But the thing is with the lc-1, you are not able to turn it up louder and louder until your speakers are distorted all to hell with bassboot on max "because it sounds louder"...

The lc-1 is limited to what your actual gain setting is on the amplifier, when you turn the lc-1 all the way up or down your physical gain knob on the amp is not being disturbed. Unlike the remote bass knobs on many amps.

All your doing with the lc-1 is no different then most the head units with subwoofer preout volume.

The whole "the gain is not a volume knob" by the topic starter is taking the saying out of context because this is normally said to those that turn the gain on the amplifiers all the way up, engage any sort of bass boost on the head unit as well as the amp.
