Food Cards, Section 8, etc., How do We Get Rid of It?

Ok there's alot of people who realy need food cards an discounted rent. So deleting it is stupid! Now I'm all for these lazy people getting up off that ass and caring for then selves for sure! But there a good many who realy deserve the benefits .

There's so many people who have worked payed there dues who fall on hard times that deserve the help. Not these lazy baby factory bitches. That's the issues realy! And fucked up part is there brothers sister or aunt works at food stamp office an let every family member be approved for it when they need to get off there 4 foot wide ass and work!!!

well. I personally don't think welfare should be totally deleted in any state. but rather a complete overhaul and rationalization of the system. welfare serves a purpose to help those in need for a SHORT amount of time to help them get back on their feet. regardless I believe they should audit and have people from there office actually go to these peoples houses and see how they are living before even supplying welfare, and no doubt drug screening( Idc if people do them, but most defiantly do when they do it on my money). and for the people settled in now, they are to be reevaluated by the same standard of new people and strict laws will eventually weed out a lot of it, and just because you cant stop having unprotected sex and popping out kids doesn't qualify you for welfare.

who know's when any of us will need it. I might someday. I mean, i worked and payed into the system for the last 25 years, so i deserve to use it if i need to. My problem is, people that have NEVER worked and don't plan to any time soon. Those same people, popping out kids like it's the thing to do. Whats the first thing outta their mouth when they have another kid on my payroll (tax dollar)? They say "another credit during tax season" - (as if they paid taxes to begin with)

anyway, someday, i might need it...i cant predict the future. But i promise everyone this. If i do, ill be out there getting me another job and get the fuck off it as quick as possible.

I have not read this entire thread but want to say that it's clearly a complicated issue with no simple solution. Welfare has its place, I have used food stamps before. I was married, one child and just out of college working. My wages were barely enough to cover rent (starting out in the tech industry at the time). I would not have been able to live, pay rent, pay bills, pay gas, eat, pay for insurance etc without the aide that I received. I dug in focused on my job and my family and took every chance at additional responsibilities at work that came my way. I didn't like the idea that I needed help but I needed it and made the best out of it. There are certainly people that take advantage of the system that was designed to help people in need but that doesn't mean we should dismantle the entire system.

There are complex issues that cause the need for welfare to begin with, including: Politics, laziness, drugs/alcohol addiction, class warfare, corporate greed, outsourcing, complacency, low wages, value of a dollar, nameless other issues that I am not familiar with.

We can't just pull the safety net out that was created to help to address issues cause by some of the above without addressing the root/underlying issue that causes people to be in a situation requiring help to begin with.

***Edited to add: Even my beat was weak - a pawn shop 10 in a sealed prefab running off of a 1000WATTS amp that weighed as much as an NES controller. (this was given to me by my Dad and was not purchased with said food stamps.

I believe that there should be testing of all members of the household who are 15 or above. Be it only for drugs or for a general health study of the members of the household. This way there is proof that the benefits are being used as needed. I know we never know what the future may hold, but I think the users of these benefits should be willing to prove that they are not squandering the help that the working people of this country are giving them.

When the drug abusing people get cut off, there will be the extra money there to account for the testing.

I know I am no expert, nor am I well versed in law or politics, but this is one thing that has been brought up as to being a problem with the ebt system.

I posted some of this up in my college forum thing and what I've seen? Baffles me.

Hawaii is the prime example of how it should be. What I was told...

"These types of government programs are state run. I don't know how the system works in your state, but in Hawaii those on welfare are required to participate in the "first for work" program, which requires individuals to put in time at an agency, actively seek employment, or full time student. The individual must attend unemployment classes and the person they are putting in time for (employed or volunteer) must submit a form stating the amount of hours the person worked. The system was developed to help people get on their feet and become independent. Plus, there is a time limit which a person may remain on certain welfare programs. Again, these are policies set within my state (Hawaii). Maybe this type of program should be adopted by other states to help people become self-sufficient."

That sounds like the perfect solution. Temporary relief if and only if, you aren't a lazy ass. You still have to go work, even if you're not working (Go to classes, seek employment, ect). You're not out there doing NOTHING.

Then I got others that... yeah. Smh.

So this guy, is perfectly fine with earning his money and giving some of it away to those on assistance so they can buy drugs or have a sweet ass car for doing nothing. Well, I guess they did do something, they filled out the form.

I blasted him and probably got the thread locked/deleted and maybe kicked off the forum part of the site. Oh well. I just used some of our examples and said "So really, you're okay with just giving away your hard earned money for others who do nothing to go buy drugs? To have a nice car, probably nicer than any one of ours? And all they did was nothing?" Used some more examples (Specifically about eating) and he came back with some "Buying chips is perfectly fine" "Really? Tell me, can you buy an apple with EBT? Sure can. Apple cause diabetes? Sure doesn't. Stop providing excuses. Stop thinking it's okay. You are thinking that it's perfectly fine for all of this to happen. Tell me, if a family is relying mainly on the government to supply their income, they eat like crap and get diseases like diabetes, who pays for the treatment? You do, yet again. So now you're paying for not just their food, house, ect... but now also their medical needs of insulin. People keep doing that, raises the amount of money the government needs. Sure it takes time but what will happen? Taxes will increase. Now you get less money. Still think it's okay now? Still think I'm playing the 'Victim' without a just cause? If those who abuse the system and act like kids are their income (as technically they are) would close their legs or spend $5 for condoms, this whole welfare thing wouldn't be such a big deal."

Did that set him off lol. "The comments about women sleeping around and not affording $5 dollars for condom is borderline offensive and uncalled for. I don't think you need to be posting that." "Is it not the truth? There are those out there who DO need help. By all means, help them. I am not against that at all. If they are busting their asses and just cannot make ends meet, by all means, help them out. But if they're doing nothing but spreading their legs? Hoping to get pregnant so the amount of money they get is even more? Well, I'm sorry if that offends you but it's the truth."
