TheMonolith2001 Posted August 27, 2013 Report Posted August 27, 2013 Yeah its because most beats/basslines/whatever you want to call them are around 40-45hz. It is going to give you that punchy sound too. Its also because it would benefit the most amount of people possible because of the sub/tuning most people have + close to a lot of people's resonant frequency. So a lot of reasons, basically the most beneficial in a roundabout average sort of way. Bass boost isn't ALWAYS bad, say you have a setup where you set your gain at 30hz with no clipping, but if you set your gain at 40hz and there is no clipping but the gain knob is now higher - making it clip at 30hz now - use the bass boost at 40hz if you want to! It is basically a dumbed down equalizer, it works better on some amps than others. So I wouldn't automatically assume it distorts and not necessarily clips especially if you have a nice amp.
