Is the extra power worth the money?

The only way to know if the extra power is worth the money is if you buy it and try.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I believe what he was intending to say is that it takes twice the power to achieve a 3db difference And a 3db difference is what's considered an audible difference. He just worded it badly. He's also going on the assumption that op is seeing 7500 watts out of the amp he is running now which after all factors come in to play we all know he isn't. So he was saying unless that 10k puts out 15k it's not going to be an audible difference. Which is not the case for all we know op is getting 4k out of his amp so it the dc 10k put out 8k after everything's said and done he would notice a difference. But there is no way for any of us to know what op would get out of the 10k in his ride but I'm sure he will notice a difference. If it's worth it or not that's up to the op.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

That is indeed what I meant, I don't know which part I could make more clear.

I said: "You'll be lucky if the DC 10 is that amazing that it puts out double the power which would be 15kW..."

Which implies it won't put out 15kW at all.

Which means you'll have a pretty low chance of actually doubling power.

Doubling power in a perfect environment would give you a 3dB increase, that's not including thermal compression. (Including thermal compression it would be closer to 2.2dB)

3dB is a barely audible difference.

As I have said before, it won't sound louder to the ear.

It might/will give you the impression of it being louder because the pressure on your body will help perceive loudness.

To me it would certainly not be worth it to almost pay double for such a small increase.

I dislike the tone you are using while typing by saying: "the experts have spoken" and "i'm sure he runs them"

I don't know why you are personally attacking me, I understand you might like DC products and use them. I don't understand why you should "attack" someone because he doesn't think the way you do.

EDIT: To be clear, not to have any miscommunication, the last part is intended for Sensai.

Thinking is the root of all problems...

You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

I have read all of you guys suggestions and opinions,i would love to notice a good amount of difference between the 2 amps to the ear.. i just want it for demoing, I really can careless about numbers, no offense to anyone i just wanted to hear some of you guys advice because i know alot of you guys may have been in the same position i have been in and you guys run multiple 9ks and 10ks ...just spending almost a grand on something i may not be too impressed or happy with holds me in the middle....i have the 750.1 at .5 ohms but the subs look like they want more power ...i read the suggestions about running another 750.1 but i would like to run one single amp if that reasonable? people saying it wont be noticeable really has me stuck then people saying it will be way louder has me going toward to getting the 10k ..im trying to read and get the best advice from you older gentlemen that have been there and done this already

Honestly I can tell you this. Its going to depend on your install really. How your subs are going to react to more power. I have the team fi subs and went from an atomic 12k to a dc 9k which is pretty much the same fucking board and it was VERY NOTICEABLE. Just ask anyone that has set in my car at world finals. We can apply (theroys) in audio but real world experience knows that the theroys does not work. if you have the power to feed that 10k what it wants then you WILL notice a gain imo.

This not coming from someone that has ( theory's) but someone with real world experience with similar power and running similar subs. I would get another 750.1.

i will not say its the best amp I have owned. I will give that to my old orion 2500d's but i can say that I am very very impressed with this amp. I have done the following:

Please keep in mind that what i do to equipment should not be tried AT ALL but because i give zero fucks it is what it is

1) I've ran the DC 9k at .5 with a single d3100 batt at full tilt for 30 seconds with no issues

2) I constantly run the dc at .5 and sit at 11.6 full tilt ( with fully charged batts) and have not had an issue

3) Just beat the living shit out of it

I can say that the amp is a beast and any amp that can stand up to a drunk ninja demo and not fail is a great amp. It performs.

The only thing is that it does not like a reactive of .7. You will noticed the output cut out then then it will go into protect but that is what its supposed to do.

by the way the dc 10k is more efficient on power than the dc 9k will be but will not like running at low voltages. make sure you have the electrical to back it up
