Harsh Kumar Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 As for now I have decided 2 subs for my setup, one more towards SPL & other towards SQ SPL Subwoofer (Ported) - Fi TEAM 15" or 18" http://store.ficaraudio.com/team15/ or http://store.ficaraudio.com/team18/ SQ Subwoofer (Sealed) - Fi SSD 12" http://store.ficaraudio.com/ssd12/ Amp 4000W RMS - Not Decided Amp 1000W RMS - Not Decided, maybe "Hifonics BRX 1100.D" http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_67933_Hifonics-BRX1100.1D.html Amp for both subs not yet decided (question regarding those in other forum, you can still suggest here) Electrical upgrades almost decided (question regarding this with details in other forum) The main questions here are... 1. For Fi TEAM - Choosing between 15" or 18" of same model & same RMS rating would make noticeable difference.? (space for enclosure is not the issue for me, as i am customizing my entire car , except for performance mods) 2. For Fi TEAM - Would single 15" / 18" be able to do hair trick & sound good (at-least not bad) at same time.? 3. For both subs - Would this setup bring up any advantage over other possibilities as i am expecting by separate EQ'ing both..? (keeping TEAM's volume down during daily driving to save some electrical load, & turning it up only when required) 4. For Fi SSD - these customization options make any difference.? (FlatWindCoil, Cooling, Internal Lead, Carbon Fiber Dust Cap) This is my 1st project above 1500W RMS. Please suggest me if there are any drawbacks of this setup & better options.
ParDeus Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 If you're looking for sq because you loathe the limited band of ported, do a 4th order. When I was younger, I tried the same thing you're talking about, and it didn't sound all that good. I'm sure everyone else will agree. Size wise, do the biggest you can provided you can give it proper airspeace. As far as options go, I'd get all you can afford, but not those damn CF dustcaps. Waste of money, imo.

Smurfboy Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 Mixing two different subs=not a good idea.
TRTC360 Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 guess i'm the only one here besides the OP that has considered doing something similar. I'm big into SQ but unfortunately don't have the money to do a proper SQ install. All things aside I don't see anything wrong with having a single sealed 12 for normal daily listening, and then the powerful 18 in a ported enclosure for that extra bump when you wanna turn heads. Smurfboy Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 Actually, from my experience, it's all in the box. With the right box, power, etc., it can be very loud and sounds good. *Hint hint* Look at Steve's 8 18" with 30K watts Never heard of it in person but I was told that it sounds good/clean and extremely loud.
n8ball2013 Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 What he's wanting to do is not an Sq install. Bulwada actually runs different size subs in his car. During the Sq portion there is a single 10 up front and runs the 4 12s in the real for the spl portion only. This will never be a hard core Sq install. This is just over thinking and over complicating things THERE IS NO BUILD LOG! 1998 Chevy Silverado ext cab Alpine CDA-9887 4 Team Fi 15s 2 Ampere Audio TFE 8.0 2 Ampere Audio 150.4 3 Digital Designs CS6.5 component sets Dual Mechman 370XP Elite alternators inbound! 8 XS Power d3400 6 XS power d680 Second Skin Stinger Tsunami Wiring Sky High A Real Voltmeter not a piece of shit stinger.
Harsh Kumar Posted March 12, 2014 Author Report Posted March 12, 2014 Stop no dont Mixing two different subs=not a good idea. thanks for suggesting, i got it.. mixing 2 different subs wont work good at same time. Waste of money, imo. thanks for suggestion. i am not looking for purely sq. i was thinking to use a 12" sub, in sealed enclosure, EQ'ed through Rockford fosgate 3Sixty.3 for almost flat & clean response. & a 15" sub in ported enclosure on separate channel for peak at a particular freq. As everyone is saying, they both won't sound good together . Running them at different times would give any advantage or would it be waste of extra space & money on it.? Just do the team in a good ported box. Trust me, you'll love it. Thanks.. thats what my initial plan was, but later i though of adding up another sub if not running together than separately. but i am not sure it would be as noticeable difference as i am thinking..? guess i'm the only one here besides the OP that has considered doing something similar. You got me right.. Do you even know what kind of electrical you need for 4kw????? Yea, getting dual alternators, mechman 320A universal & a pair of XS Power D3100 + wiring upgrades. Any changes you would suggest.? http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/184059-dual-alternator-dual-battery-wiring-help/#entry2736453 Actually, from my experience, it's all in the box.
