Gain all the way up with no distortion

If he isn't getting full voltage from the HU then getting a DD1 isn't going to fix that.

You need to see if you have any settings messed with on the EQ or something else.

Krakin's Home Dipole Project

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

That or it might be a head unit where he needs say a "sub level" or something at +5 or +15 or whatever they go to in order to reach 2v output unclipped, or something relatively close. It might not seem like it, but 1v vs. 2v in preout voltage is a lot.

I would get the DD-1, plug the left RCA into it, run the test.

Simultaneously, Hook a DMM to the other in ACV.

Start messing with settings on the HU and see if you can achieve 2v out and keep the DD-1 distortion light from lighting up.

If its anything like my kenwood, my sub level has to be at 15/15 for full voltage. I have an older pioneer HU that also has sub controls similar to my kenwood, so that could be the case here.

I didn't read through so sorry if I'm just saying it again but you might be OK. I set my stuff with an oscope and my gain is all the way up with no clipping. I turned the sub level up and everything when setting. My amp even detects clipping and goes into protect and that never happens. Gain is all the way up. Stupid 2V preout.

yea some are like this. My kenwood requires +0 sub level for full 4v out. Ive had alpines go both ways as well. Wouldnt be surprised if the pioneer needs little too.

My HU does not have a sub level. just settings like bass boost and stuff i am not goanna use. But i was looking through the manual and noticed it lists the preouts as 2V MAX. so maybe it just has weak preouts. its the DEH-150MP which is the bottom line pioneer so it isn't the best. idk i will mess with it this weekend and if i cant get it any better i do have a new HU which is nicer on the way.

Get A New Head unit. For the record. I have splitters in my truck. I mean how else are you going to run 4 sub amps without a drop in voltage out through the passthroughs. I also have a 4 volt out head unit and each rca still receives almost a full signal at each amp. They are like 3.98 or something like that
