Sound Qubed

Recommended Posts

So i have an audio technix 1200.1 (Ct Sounds)

And i want new subs for the next comp that comes up. Now i love the price point of AQ and want there subs.

I was looking at a pair of HDS 312 D2 's for 2ohm daily and 0.5 ohm comp... but there out of stock and will be in on time for the comp but i am without subs and love my bass more than the company of a woman.

Would a single HDC 3.12 D1 be a good replacement, about 60$ cheaper than the pair but the impedance is the same at 2ohms street and 0.5 comp but with an rms of 1500 instead of the combined 2400

Now i seen steve's Amp Test Tuesday for this amp and it was 1864 and 2406 rms for 1ohm. Will the HDC 3.12 beable to handle more that the 2406 (because at half not 1 ohm) without problems? I don't have allot of previous experience with soundqubed but heard there great stuff.

I have also never been to a comp before this is my first one, if they measure by sub surface area would a single sub help.

my original plan was dual hds 312's but like i said out of stock. but to me a hdc 4.0 seems overkill for a 1200.1 that and that sub is a tad over my budget, i cant spend 400$ on a single sub atm.

But i will see if i can fit a 15" in the trunk of my malibu, doubt it tho maybe with a 15 Degree slant in the box when i build it will help

i have never owned a 15" before

Coming from a guy running SoundQubed, get the HDC3. I have the 4's and they are a bit overkill in this situation, especially if they aren't in the budget. I wouldn't compete with anything less than a HDC3 though. The HDS line is great value, but not well suited for competition.

Eh, musicality is more in the box design than anything. I feel like my hdc4's sound pretty good musically but as far as I'm concerned, when you go throwing 5k worth of power to a sub it's much more difficult to keep that musicality than running 1200 rms to it.
