No one yet has been able to prove his theory wrong and select which amp was which in a blind folded test and win the money.

No one yet has been able to prove his theory wrong and select which amp was which in a blind folded test and win the money. ahhh maybe it was just a placebo you know never really liking hifonics thinking i have a better amp now lol or this in his article lol Does this mean all amps sound the same in a normal install? No. Richard Clark is very careful to say that amps usually do not sound the same in the real world. The gain setting of an amplifier can make huge differences in how an amplifier sounds, as can details like how crossovers or other filters are set. When played very loud (into clipping), the amplifier with more power will generally sound better than a lower powered amp. Most people perceive slight differences in amplitude as quality differences rather than loudness. The louder component sounds “faster, more detailed, more full”, not just louder. This perceptual phenomenon is responsible for many people thinking they liked the sound of a component when really they just liked the way it was set up. my build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/142505-small-build-log-4-dc-lvl3-10s-tl-update-link-to-rebuild/ http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/154258-rebuild-6-lvl3-12s-update-small-video-nothing-spectacular/ new build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/188181-03-trailblazer-slow-build-8-dc-lvl3-12-m1-motor-m2-parts/
walwalka Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Yes, I'm butthurt. But I'm not surprised. I wish the voltage were higher to get a better idea on what they really make but I'm not going to argue that the SQ is better because it's clearly the same. 2010 Honda Civic LX / Deck: Kenwood DDX371 / Front Highs: Crescendo RTS-1 / Front Mids: Silver Flute 6.5's / 4 channel: DC Audio 90.4 / Sub: Fi 15in SP4v2 / Sub amp: Taramps HD 5000 / Power wire: Knukonceptz OFC 1/0 / Deadener: Audio Technix 60 mil / Batteries: XS Power D5100R / Rear bank: TBD / Alternator: Singer 240a hairpin

Honestly, if we were able to keep the voltage to a perfect 14.4 I think they would have done 22xx watts. I tested the SQ in my car on subwoofers with better electrical with a highly similar result. and by the way, the video ISN'T mine. I don't have the amp lab and I don't make the videos. reedal Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 I'm not butthurt about this at all. I look at it as it's rated for 2200 watts with a 1ohm load @ 14.4 volts. It produced 76 watts less than 2200 at 1.6 volts less than its rated at. If it had a constant 14.4 volts for the test then I have no doubts that it would put out what it is rated for. The hifonics clearly did not do its rated 2400 or close to. But the soundqubed, can you say it doesn't do rated without there being a constant 14.4 volts when under load? No. I will still nut hug soundqubed because it almost produced rated power at less voltage. Board similarities? Are they the same amp with a different face for us to look at? Appears so. But at least hifonics has again been disproved in my book by not coming close to 2400 watts. I feel that I can safely assume that my 3500 does rated at rating voltage after seeing this video. I agree with this. the Soundqubed will probably do rated power at rated voltage, the hifonics probably won't...but it still makes the hifonics a "better deal for your money". Karkov Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Makes me wonder about longevity. Either way great video whomever's it is. I have never owned the 2200's but I just bought 4 of the 3500's (SQ). I wouldn't say I'm butthurt but I am a little bummed and concerned, lol. Are the 3500's only worth it if you run higher voltages? Borris The Blade Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 That amp looks familiar.... Never thought the two were damn near the same thing, and the hifonics looks to have some better components in it. Looks like I won't be buying soundqubed again. It's like rubbing your wiener up against a sheep.

If you want 2000 watts as cheap as possible, go hifonics. but how many threads or questions are there about a hifonics amp having an issue or going into protect compared to soundqubed? i dont believe I've seen any issue about an SQ amp except for one guy who was trying to sell his and had left it powered without a load and fried some resistors in it, and the guy who screwed up his RCA inputs yesterday. I'm not saying there arent any, but i just havent come across them. Hifonics, I've seen a lot of questions about them having some problem, and I didnt even find this forum until may of last year. The boards may be the same layout, and i skipped over a lot of the technical jargon to get the point where the testing happened, but are the components of the same quality inside? Are they the same brand/type components? I think the hifonics has cheaper components compared to the SQ, thats why you're paying a cheaper price, and not having the quality or longevity of life from them. Pricewise, go with hifonics. Reliability, I choose soundqubed. I imagine that the DC 2k outputs close to the same power as these two if the DC's are underrated. It's better quality and more reliable, so it cost more. soundqubed 2200 vs DC 2k vid next....?
