jdshott Posted July 18, 2014 Report Posted July 18, 2014 I'm curious myself. When I get home I'll rip the DD-1 CD contents at max bit rate, load up the files and see what the DD1 says plugged into my S5. Please do !!! No 1 But me paid for this stuff and NO FREEBIES so no brand names (No Free Advertisement ) A SQ head unit 6 5.25 2 X 6x9s 7804 P400.4 4001D 1 34s (Maybe time to change brand) 4 X 15" s !/0 @ 2/0 OFC Wiring :morepower1: :morepower1: ill say it like i always say it. F##K the DD-1. I don't care if you or anyone buys one. (well i do, but that isn't my point) Get an O-scope in the very minimum and learn how to use it or you are just guessing your settings like every other noob. once you master the O-scope then step up to a DD-1 or even better a DD-1 Plus.
MrSkippyJ Posted July 18, 2014 Report Posted July 18, 2014 I am using the App Radio 3 headunit. That goes into a RF 3sixty.2 and the amps from there. LIke I said, no difference on the DD-1 between CD, lightning cable or bluetooth. I did not try the AUX input. All 3 distorted at the same level according to the DD-1. Guest Posted July 18, 2014 Report Posted July 18, 2014 http://www.jensign.com/S4Distortion/ galaxy s4 had an issue but firmware upgrade fixed it.
never knows best Posted July 18, 2014 Report Posted July 18, 2014 to the people running phones as source units can you tell me basic things liek- total harmonic distortion: s\n ratio: frequency response: is there any documentation that relates to audio reproduction on any phone?????????????
slowfkncar Posted July 19, 2014 Report Posted July 19, 2014 Any electronic sensor can clip. Cameras, microphones,FM transmitters ect. It all depends on source signal. If your playing music from YouTube compared to your digital stored library then they will both have different clipping points. Most phones will clip at full volume if your music is not clean. A very few select phones have noticeably good audio processors like for example, the LG G2 uses 24bit/192khz DAC. Which it is still possible to clip.
boom50cal Posted July 19, 2014 Report Posted July 19, 2014 All you'd have to do is buy a 3.5 to 2 channel RCA cable and test it out.. On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole.
scrilla Posted July 19, 2014 Report Posted July 19, 2014 Ok, so I was going to video the test, do up the results all official like, but well, there were really no results, or just one rather. Here's what the outcome was. I took the SMD CD that came with the DD1 and ripped all the tracks as lossless wavs to the tune of about 600 mb worth of files. Dropped those on my galaxy S5. Grabbed a 3.5mm jack to right/left rca plug and hooked the DD1 into my phones left channel. Hit play on track 1 (40Hz) and started bumping up the volume. Got to full volume and the DD1 saw nothing. No distortion, or detection on the 40Hz. Moved to track 2 (1kHz) and repeat the process, again no clipping or detection of the 1kHz signal. I tried the Pink Noise (track 9) and got some distortion at about 2 clicks before full volume however. So, takes those results as you will, my guess is the output doesn't meet the minimum required voltage of the DD1 to produce any results. On one other side note, I played a few mp3 files I had on my phone, and saw clipping on the DD1 at the same volume level (2 clicks before full) as well. Any ways, hope this helps, and if not, hey, was a fun experiment none the less. Cheers! Now that I have typed this and re read it, could I combine the right/left outputs of the 3.5 mm jack and maybe get a readable signal on the DD1?
LT.Smoke Posted July 19, 2014 Report Posted July 19, 2014 Yes they will . iphones are really bad about doing so. IMO You are so wrong. What proof do you have besides your opinion? iPhones don't clip, now if your download is shit don't blame the phone According to my buddy who DD1'd his Iphone it starts clipping at 4 clicks from full volume Team MaxRetribution Si Vis Pacem Parabellum Id rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 Bowhunting- Life Begins and Ends at Full Draw Bowhunting Team Fatal Trajectory Hunt Team http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/49335-sick96vtecaccords-t-line-build/?hl=sick96vtecaccord << Accord Build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/68498-smokedout08impalas-tline-build/?hl=+sick96vtecaccord << Impala T-line build Rebassed.com for all your music needs 👌

The g2 only clips at full volume bass heavy music. All phones easily clip. If you play a -20db 1khz track then no,obviously they will be hard to clip as those tracks have low output.
