don't mean to steal the thread, but, ^^ by adding 14 volt batts to your bank would give you more reserve/power than 12 volt batts? ???

You have to be careful going to a 14v system, mainly because the vehicles electronics are built to go up to 14.4v or maybe a bit higher, depending on the vehicle.

Your fuel pump won't 16v

some wont

i charge HIGH while demoing.. around 15.2 (external reg) id go higher if i had 14v bats.. but i dont.

daily, i charge at 14

some ECU's dont like some higher voltages.. some cars are fine.....

that, is what google/search/research is for

most 14v bats cost more, and have LESS amp hours ......... Also, you would NEED A 16 volt charge to keep them up...

Idk why I said 14v alt, I meant 14v system...post was after a long (4hr) bio class haha. I've been looking on other threads on the forum and saw one a while back with the system voltages and what they need to be charged at so thanks for clearing that up.

Kyle, yeah I see. Like I said long morning. I just wanted to make sure I get everything g stright before I give the guy am answer.

Other than the slight power increase from amps are there any advantages of a 14v/16v system? Also, even on those systems all ground runs to the frame/chassis are okay?

Thanks guys this is really clearing things up.

I'm running 14v. Whole car sees 16.1ish daily. No stepdowns of any sort. Car cranks over really, really quick. Kinda nice
