Looking for RESPONSIVE double dins

Recommended Posts

What's out there? One of my biggest peeves with most double dins is that they are laggy.

I don't care/don't want GPS. Not willing to incur the extra expense for a feature I won't use

Needs: Video capability via USB, responsive UI, responsive to read USB

Nice to have: Physical volume knob, capacitive touch screen, some sort of dimming function, 4v preout, "volume offset" feature of some sort

Don't care: GPS, crossover capability CD/DVD functionality, satellite radio, bluetooth, pandora/other app functionality, Ipod functionality (I use a thumb drive)

I run a Sony XAV-602BT and it fits your description quite well... only difference is it has 5v pre outs :D (and a shit load of other features but to focus on what you want, it has or does)

The problem come when you ask it to play a use or an iPod. Losing artwork and stuff is where the lagging comes in

I'm super happy with my Clarion VX709. Yes I understand it's an older model, but they can be found in the used market.

I've had a handful of different setups in my truck, all of them being "flagship" models from Clarion, Kenwood and pioneer. I've just come to like this one more (seamless BT, dimming screen (night, day and auto modes) and it doesn't lag or freeze up like others I have used.

Friend of mine has the top of the line Kenwood and it's pretty dn nice and fast, makes me regret buying my top of the line pioneer double din.

The Kenwood has some pretty good sound shaping tools and a decent eq as well.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
