DK99
Jason, Per our conversation rather than shipping your hard drive to someone to fix it, Pickup a USB docking station from Best Buy and connect your hard drive to your computer and recover your photos, This will not work if the hard drive is fried but at least you can return the Docking station and get your money back., and you will know if you have to send it to a data recovery center. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/thermaltake-sata-hard-drive-docking-station-with-esata-and-usb-connection-black/8990443.p?id=1218007083869&skuId=8990443 Hi SMD Members If anybody has computer problems and is an SMD member with at least 150 posts I will fix your problems for free by phone support or I can also fix your computer over the internet.... I have references such as All State insurance, Nationwide Insurance and much more... just p.m me for help.. I am not the greatest with when it comes to audio systems so I figured I could contribute to the forum this way.... Thanks David

n8ball2013
Even a microwaved drive can be savedWord. I've never had to recover a Microwaved HDD but I know we have sent drives to Data Forensics companies and they can range in the $1000s for some stuff. How bad do you want those photos is the question. Yep. It's pretty amazing what they can do in a clean room with the right tools. It's expensive though and only gets worse as you get more damaged stuff. Also comes witha. Nice disclaimer saying they don't have to guarantee recovery. We just sent one out that was over 2k to recover and it wasn't mangled. But I'll defer to those here who are much more experienced in this kind of stuff. Those that don't know about ftk and encase and those enterprise level forensic tools and all. Skullz
Atleast it is the easiest of the drives to get the photo's back from compared to the SSD's if they die. Pretty much why i backup all my photo's and music. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
juan777
SSDs are no bueno for data recovery, had one die on me a few months ago and that was that. Lucky for me I don't store important things solely on a digital format. Either that or I have multiple sources. aculous
More information about the drive would really help I think. Can you access the drive from another computer? Does it click (if IDE/SATA) or make audible noise? Does it spool up (if IDE/SATA)? But honestly Jason I would talk to Driversavers or a professional company that is certified to do this work and see what they quote you. It will be expensive but the work will be guaranteed and if other people have tried to get the data and haven't been successful you are probably going to have to go to a professional. I am guessing also with the drive being accessed multiple times that could be doing more harm as well.
all4spl
I have had one of these for a while now and they are worth there weight in GOLD when trying to recover data for someone, pull the drive connect to this and whammo drive access. Of course unless the drive won't spin up. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3276554&csid=_61 Retired from SPL again.... 2016 IASCA Truck/Trunk 2 Champion 151.8db 2016 IASCA Truck/Trunk 2 World Record Holder
