scooter99
A couple of additional touches, for now anyway. AFE Momentum HD Stage 2 Cold Air Intake, oh and you can see one of the two XS Power D6500's in there. Got some wiring to do, but that will be another time. Then to compliment the CAI, a Magnaflow Dual Exhaust kit, with the CAT and Muffler deleted. Straight piped. Althought that won't stay long I don't think. May hold off until the first tow with it. I'm sure with a good load on it, she'll be pretty loud! On of the main reasons I got the SCT Tuner btw, since we're talking exhaust, is that it adjusts the computer to get the power. Not just adjust mixtures etc causing this to blow smoke. I didn't want that. Already concerned enough being in Nazifornia about the noise and how much attraction it'll get. I don't race around, but once in a while to clear the system she needs to open up and breathe! OR if I need to pass the asshat in the left lane going the speed limit, there's that too! HA Anyway, when I step on it with this, it does open up and I get a little plume, but it's not the type of volume that would smoke screen the guy behind me. I'm ok with that. Here's a little video of it. This was the first night I had it out after the exhaust was put on. https://youtu.be/SoC6iaEshpw One last thing concerning the lift. I was not real happy with the fact that the rear blocks were stacked. I have traction bars, and that's all fine and great, but stacked blocks is not a safe way to go in my opinion and when we're talking about towing a big trailer, and having my family in it, I am not willing to take the chance. So to address that issue, I've bought some 6" lift blocks from PMF Suspensions. These aren't just blocks, they're beefy as hell and they're built right. I got them with the perch for the air bags as well. Those came in the mail yesterday. Next to my hand for size comparison. I don't have the largest hands, I'm not a giant or anything, but I'd like to think I have some pretty decent sized mitts!! It has a twin! They're tapered as well for the axle pinon. I can't wait to get these bad boys on!! That's about it, I think we're up to date at the moment. I have a new carrier bearing, and u-joints that need to go on. I'll try to get that work done this weekend. Once those go on, I can drop the carrier bearing and get rid of the vibration that's in it. Then I'll be a pretty happy boy! scooter99
Not sure if you know or not, but those 6.0's have a bad reputation of having problems and from what I understand they all started after people put chips on them. I'm aware. Next big thing on the list is the head gaskets and studs. But that's a huge job, and I already have one of those jobs going on right now and I'd probably living in the back of this truck if I started another one. LOL People have problems with them after chips because they put a chip in it and think they can go race around and be stupid with them. Not watch their gauges and warning signs of potential problems. Yeah, I've done my fair share of research on them, and I know all about the problem areas. Thank you for the awareness though. I appreciate the heads up. Dan2427
I had a 6.0 before. I had ATS 4000 turbo and 225cc elite diesel injectors, air dog 165, thing was fun but was in the shop way too much getting repairs done. I thought I'd never have to touch the head gaskets again while I owned it after the second time they went on me(third time overall, previous owner)had them re done and sold it. Almost 5k each time with labor and parts. Even had the heads milled flat the first time even tho they weren't out of spec. 2003 GMC Yukon Denali Alpine CDA 117 Redoing Mids/Highs 4 Runs of 1/0 Knukonceptz 2+, 2- 4 Deka 9A31's in back (Stock underhood) 250 amp Alt. Broke_Audio_Addict
In love with the truck. You could use some thick plexi on the sides of the enclosure to show off them backsides. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. lifted_silverado
I dont know anything about the sct tuners or if they have a gauge setup, but if not I would recommend the edge CTS gauges. Can monitor EVERYTHING and takes up much less space than a set of mechanical gauges. Truck looks great and glad you went with the PMF single blocks. That double stack stuff is no bueno. Everythings in the attic or garage since the truck was sold last year. New build should be coming soon in a dodge cummins
scooter99
Hey everyone, been a minute. Slow going right now, until I get the beast finished, but I did get a few things done this weekend. Changed the oil, got the blue spring upgrade installed, found my exhaust vibration, and installed my new alt with new 1/0ga cable to go with it. I also found a couple of options to fit a secondary alt in the same size as the first one, but I need to see what everyone thinks. New area for me, making brackets and stuff. I started a thread on it, and I'd love to hear what you all think. scooter99
Hey everyone. Well I'm getting close to getting started on some things. It's still going to be a bit until I do it, but I have a question for you guys. I was contemplating doing a video install. What I mean by that is just basically do videos of me working on things as the install goes along. I'll still post pictures for those who can't watch the videos, but want to keep up on progress as I go. But it could be fun to do. I'm probably going to invest in a go pro or something, because my regular camera I don't think will be the greatest for it. Let me know what you think. The latest updates. No pictures unfortunately. Last weekend I spent all weekend literally getting some things addressed on the truck. The more and more I work on it, the more and more I convince myself as to why I do my own work. When someone else works on your vehicle, unless you know for a fact they do, most don't have the attention to detail or the care to do the work as they would if it was their own vehicle. I've found several flaws with the lift and exhaust etc that I'm not very happy about. So I'm going to be changing and addressing those as time goes on. At some point I'll have an entirely new lift and it'll be done piece by piece. So last weekend, I pulled the drive shaft out. Front shaft, with the carrier bearing, rear shaft to the rear differential. I got was able to remove the old carrier bearing, which was a pain in the ass, or forehead in my case, for sure. I was trying to pry the yolk off and my pry bar slipped and mashed me right between the eyes. I thought i gave myself a concussion for a minute there. My head hurt for a couple of days. But I went back to work after that and managed to get it off finally with a little help from my torch and a mini sledge. So I was able to change the carrier bearing with a new one, and I also changed out all 3 of the U-Joints in the line as well. I went ahead and shimmed the carrier bearing, using the 1/8" per 1" of lift theory, and bolted it all back together. I'm not 100% sure on the shims, although it seems tight, I may still invest in the Adjustable Carrier Bearing Drop kit from PMF for this. I think it'll make me feel better having a solid piece in there like that. Took her out for a little drive, and after several punch it from the line moments, I'm happy to say there is none or extremely minimal vibrations at all. SO that fixed that issue. I also picked up the trailer Tuesday night, getting ready for the weekend, and there was a little vibration with that big load, but nothing like before. I may still throw another pair of shims in it and see if that helps, but for now I'm good with it. Also while I was under there doing the drive line, I loosened the entire exhaust system, put the Magnaflow Muffler in it, and then tightened it all down and adjusted it so there's no more vibrations from that either. Part of what I was talking about with the attention to detail. It's vibrated from day one, and if anyone in their right mind were to get in it, you could hear it. So why would you leave it that way? But I took care of it. I do still need some new exhaust hangers, the old ones are really flexible and broken down. They are the original ones. SO they're in need of replacing. I can pick those up from Oreilly or Autozone. Not too expensive and an easy fix. So after that was all done, on Sunday I changed all 4 brakes out. I was going to change all of the bleeders to speed bleeders, but I couldn't find them locally in my size. So I'll have to order those, and I want to change the brake fluid out to new stuff. I also need to replace the brake lines with SS Brake Lines. I'll probably do all of that at one time. So my truck rides nice now, and stops on a quarter (because realistically this truck won't ever stop on a dime). The next piece that is high on the priority list is the drag link. The bushing on the drag link, connecting to the drop pitman arm, is shot. Destroyed. Boot is broken, no lube/grease in there and it's only a matter of time until something bad happens with it. But that explains the sloppy play in the wheel. I'm planning to pick up the Heavy Duty one from PMF. It's just a matter of convincing the wife that I need a part that's 10 times better than stock, for twice the price as stock. If I can sit here and say "damn they want that much, it's a round piece of metal with a couple of hem-joints on the end" I can only imagine my wife and what she'll say. But that's something that really must happen. I want to change the trackbar too, to an adjustable one, but that's more expensive than the drag link. It'll be some time before that happens. So last thing, the AA Components shipped. As soon as I get those, I'll be in business to get busy on the install. Let me know what you guys think about the video idea. I'm interested to hear your thoughts. Ok I'm done talking for now. More soon. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
