BigManAC
Alright SMD family I done just about all I can think of but maybe yall can see something that i'm overlooking. Here's the rundown and what I have tried. Basicly I am getting a low volume alternator whine, once the volume is turned up loud enough you can't hear the whine until the rpms get above 3k. This is what I have done so far: 1) Plugged an iPod directly into the amp - no whine 2) Plugged an iPod into the RCA's at the HU running to the amp - no whine Those two test lead me to believe that it is not an amp grounding issue, so must be somewhere near the HU. My factory harness where the aftermarket one plugs into for the radio adapter was a hack job from the previous owner and when I would bump it the whine would get worse so I ran to the salvage yard and picked up a new one and now thats fine. However the whine is still there. 3) I ran a ground from the HU to the battery up front with 16g wire - whine is still there Could it be the HU preouts are bad? Any advice is appreciated. 2001 Saturn L200-Sony MEX-BT4100PFRONT STAGE:- (4) Crescendo PWX 6- Cadence XA250.2SUB STAGE:-Fi Audio BL 15 (Sealed Off)-Crescendo BC2kELECTRICAL:- Singer 240A alt - XS Power D3400- SkyHigh OFC power/speaker wire- Big 3 with SkyHigh 0gaugeBuild Log: Click HereScores: 146.5db @ 29hz Outlaw

Guest
make sure everything is grounded at one point...amps, head unit etc. It is most convenient to run a ground wire from your amp(s)/rear battery to the front battery negative. This worked for me. I was in your same situation.

I didn't literally mean one point...I meant like ground everything in the front for instance instead of having some things grounded in the front and some in the back etc... every car is different...but it worked on mine..no more noise
