Hertz_So_Good Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 So, I have managed to detach pretty much every point of contact on my roof braces (which is causing terrible flex, and rattling). I have been reading around for suggestions on getting the roof skin re-attached to the braces. Everything I read says that spot welding is not an option, and the only real suggestion I have seen, is to use a Urethane adhesive. If you all could shed some light on a good way to re-attach my roof braces, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, I would love some ideas on how to reinforce the roof once I get the braces back on.
Ninja_v1.0 Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 checked in.. im currently in the same position. I was also told to be careful because the rips can start going around the welds.. When your at the top everyone is coming for you, friends, family, haters and even those who don't know you.. my advice.. KILL EM ALL
ChevyBoy95 Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Weld in new stronger cross braces and secondary steel sheet metal over it and fill with expanding foam. That is what my teammate did after his roof started tearing. Leo1103 Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 I had the same issue, I got the cracked roof braced welded back together and then used pl8x to fill the channel in the brace to rebond them to the roof and then used vibraflex over the braces. So far it seems to be holding. Just make sure to brace the parts as they cure. 2002 Honda CR-VAlpine 9887My BuildRebuilding... Weld box tubing or something like it to the roof, then spot weld steel sheet metal over that to recreate a strong flat inner roof skin. Everything I read, said that welding will cause the paint to do weird things on the outside. If this wasn't my daily driver, I really wouldn't care. But yea, if it is going to cause issues with my paint, I am going to have to go an alternate route.
