FWIW I ran a BTL 12 for about six months that had the SPL coil option. It was powered off a Sundown 1500D @ .5 ohms. I ended up shrinking the box volume down to 1.7 cubes from 2.25 to help the woofer from getting too "sloppy" and shifting in the gap at lower frequencies. The coil never got any rub or scrape marks and I ended up rebuilding it into a 15" version strictly for burps.

I just got an email from fi saying that every thing is ok it can still be used for daily. They stopped making it strictly for spl a few years back. So im in the clear ?

but yet the option is still on the site..... lol

You know they take their time to update the sites. It sucks but it does take them. . If they hire people to improve customer service or update the site the price of the subs would climb making them not affordable. cs service cost money that's why fosgate, jl audio, sundown and many others cost more than other brands
